New Grower First Autoflower grow and first time DWC - HELP PLEASE!

Wassup nben! Yeah man, im excited to reach the rapid growth stage. Shouldn't be too long now!

Thanks for the advice man, i was thinking about using formulex for the first 2 weeks in the res as its only weak?
As for changing the res and putting the plants into another bucket, will the bucket need to have water in or will it be ok just sat in an empty bucket whilst i change the res?

Good news everyone! (Also possibly bad news lol)

We had our first arrival this morning! The power Flower sprouted but unfortunately it only had one leaf and the other leaf seemed to have fell off or come off somehow.. i'm not really sure how it happened :/
I was hoping someone could maybe shed some light on this? Im thinking that maybe the rockwool was too tight for the seed to push through?

Anyway, here she is the poor gal..

Sorry your pic won't load:(. I wouldn't worry about it. Autos are hardy little beasts. I have had

Stupid iphone lol. Anyways I have had seedlings that I swore wouldn't make it turn out absolutely perfect. I think the hydro seems to really help in that department.

Ive only used general hydroponics flora series so I can't offer you advice on your specific nutes. I would just use a really mild solution to start. After they get growing any chance of burn will diminish.

Don't worry about having water in the bucket you use while changing the res. I just leave it empty. Even if you take your time I've never had any problems with the roots being in the dry bucket. I don't even unhook the bubbler anymore.

its like kids.... The first one you will try to do everything perfectly and then when you gain experience you will favor the more practical side haha!!

Someone previously mentioned keeping records. For the first year I was diligent about keeping records and I highly recommend it! Now I just record pollination dates and planting dates. Please do yourself a favor and keep records to begin with. Just get a calandra and record whatever you think is useful. I did res changes, flower times, how much ph up or down I needed, etc. this really helped

On proof reading I should say that I really don't ever go over 1/3 strength nutes overall. Many nutes will burn plants at full strength

Sorry about the late reply man, cheers for the advice on changing the res. That's the bit i was most worried about because i didnt wanna grow a plant ad then fuck the roots up somewhere along the line haha. As for the nutrients ill just be sure to never go full strength with them just to be on the safe side and yeah i plan to keep a record of stuff and a calendar etc..

Bad news today though, checked my seedlings not so long a go and the power flower seed that had spruted has now fell over as if it was too heavy for itself :/ to be fair it did look a bit tall but i didnt think this would happy so early.

Anybody got any advice or any tips on how i can save this little plant? Or will it eventually sort itself out? I was thinking about putting it into the buckets and maybe supporting it with the clay pebbles but i cant see any roots coming out of the rockwool cube yet so i dont really want to go ahead and do that... :/

Once again i welcome advice and questions, i've encountered a fair few problems already with this grow and i worry about it quite easily lol.

Make sure your lights are close enough. They need to be just close enough not to burn the seedling. With cfl I usually have it literally an inch from the plant. If the top leaves are turning towards the light it should be fine. If you are in soil you could just bury it up to the leaves but hydro you can't really do that.

She's brown bread guys lol the power flower didn't make it and there still n sign of life from the think different :/

High!

Sorry ot hear bro, :Sharing One:

Peace!

Hey guys I'm back with a vengeance lol! Sorry about not putting any posts up about the grow etc but i didn't wan to bore anyone or waste anybodies time with more failed attempts.

Here's an update anyway and i could really do with some help now because im scared lol!

UPDATE:

I had 1 seed from each strain left (think different & power flower) so i said to myself if i can't get these going then i'll just have to wait till my next window of oppurtunity, i decided to let my seeds grow a longer tap root this time round whilst in the wet paper towels and then i got some smaller rockwool cubes and soaked them in ph'd water of 5.6 with added root stim (canna rhizotonic) and placed the seeds inside.

2 days later both seeds had sprouted and i was happy as hell! I didn't want to wait for the tap root to come out of the bottom of the rockwool cubes so i left them for 1 more day in the prop tank and put them into their reservoirs today and under the 400w hps.

The only thing is i don't really know how many nutrients to give each strain etc and so i just tried working it out myself for now. Both plants are in ph'd water of 5.6 with a mix of rhizotonic and formulex, however the think different has en ec of 0.4 and the power flower has one of 0.3. I've read seymour's diary on the think different and i know he had an ec of 0.8 but i wasnt sure what measurements of formulex or root stim to put in the res.

I added roughly 25ml of formulex and about 10-12ml of rhizotonic to each res. Not too sure how much water is in each res but im using 20L buckets and filled them up with water until it there was a gap of about an inch between the res and the pot.

I'm hoping someone can shed some light on the feeding situation or maybe even point me in the right direction of a good feeding schedule for my plants? There's a few diarys on growing think different but i haven't come across any for the power flower.

All advice is welcomed as usual (because i'm a dwc noob lol) and all questions will be answered as best i can..

My first week I don't feed anything at all.

Then I work on 1/4 strength (truthfully I have started at 1/4 too with no noticeable results).

I only work up to 1/3 strength max. I use general hydroponics nutes and they are really strong. For other plants I would imagine full strength would work but we grow an herb/weed. It simply can't tolerate full strength nutes and they burn to a crisp...

I actually do go over 1/3 I guess on second thought when it's really starting to grow. I use 1/3 strength in my 3.5 gallon bucket for the first 3 gallons and then the last 1/2 gallon is full strength feed just to top the res off.

Alright man, i guess if i see any signs of anything bad ill change the res and make sure i write down how many litres of water is in and then itll be eays to work out how much nutes to put in?

Correct me if im wrong lol
