New Grower First Autoflower grow and first time DWC - HELP PLEASE!

Day 26 -- Girls are drinking a lot and growing a fair bit each day. Exciting times :)

TD's PH was just at 4.5 (not sure why ?). Both plants are now back to a ph of 5.7/5.8.

Any thoughts/advice/questions are welcome. Enjoy!

Roots look pretty healthy!! What are the temps in your res?? What's the ppm/EC of your res??

Looking good though!! Looks like those leaves are curling upward a bit.. How far away are your lights/fan??

Thank god you caught it soon enough! Water parameters are funny things sometimes. Now that the nutes are dissolving properly it will bounce back no problem!!

Thanks man! Not sure what temps are in my res, don't have a meter atm :/ kinda risking it, i'm crazy i know lol. The ppm of the res for TD at the start if this week (week 3) was 600 ppm and the Power flower was 400 ppm just because it looked like it ws getting a bit of nute burn from the previous res.

Yeah the leaves have been curling for a week or more now, i don't think it's a major problem though. Not yet anyway. Both plants seem to befine in the day, i think they are getting the majority of the heat stress at night as the cupboard they're in is in my bedroom and i have to shut it so i can sleep because the pump is loud and so the hot air is trapped in there more and it gets really humid :/

I could probably do with a cheap intake/outtake system or something but im not sure where to start.

The lights are about 2 and a half foot away from the top of the plants (250w hps) and my fan is at the side of them atm blowing air just over the top of the plants. :)

Probably going to have to scrogg them as i can only move my light a few inches higher..

I'd say a good next step is to get some monitors for your grow area!! I got my enclosure monitor for $8 at a local hardware store and does temp/humidity with a 24hr PEAK/LOW memory, and I got an aquarium thermometer at a pet store for $6 that will go into my res when I finish building it.. Those 2 things are extremely helpful!! As for an intake/exhaust fan, not sure what kind of space you have but as it seems a bit standard to use CPU/computer fans since they can be wired up easily and move a fair amount of air..

I have a monitor for room temp and humidity and all the ph and ppm meters, it's just the aquarium monitor i dont have but when money arrives it shall be bought. As for the pc fans, i did think of that idea but then i thought i'll still have to close the cupboard door at night due to the noise lol so wouldnt the fans just be blowing air out the tent and into the cupboard and then blowing that same hot air back in?

I have quite high ceilings so i was thinking i could get some ducting going high up for the air to be blown out the tent but i dunno.. i'll figure it out somehow i'm sure :)

Is there any way to take a picture of the area around where you're growing for a better idea of how it's set up??

Yeah man, here's a pic.. the tent is 0.9m x 0.5m x 1.6m and the cupboard is slightly bigger all round except the height of it is about 3m or more..

Is this enough info for you? I appreciate the help btw :)

I've got a few ideas, but that is an unusually difficult spot to air out.. I'm almost thinking if you had a way to use the lower door-jamb area to draw in cool air and somehow vent it out of the top of the door.. I suppose it depends on how covert you want this thing to be.. You could always purchase a cat/dog door to install toward the bottom of the door and plumb some piping from a vent at the top of your tent to the cat/dog door with an inline fan to draw air out of the tent.. There are ways for it to be done, but they may or may not be all that cheap or easy to pull off.. Is there any way to vent to the floor above/attic??

I've also heard of people cleaning out old plastic soda bottles and putting water in them, freezing them, and putting them in their reservoirs to keep the temps down.. I'm not sure how well that would work with the 5gal buckets, but it's an idea.. Air movement would be much more critical though..

Day 30 (Sorry i didn't update on the res change day but i've not had a lot of time lately with uni work etc.. Had to juggle these and making a racing game for one of my assignments lol)

Anyway, both plants are still sitting happy at a PH of 5.8.

I reduced the amount of rhizotonic in each res by half so now it's 7.5ml into 15L of water. TD's ppm was brought upto around 700 and the PF's ppm is around 600. The rapid growth is so fun to witness :P

I bought 2 clip on 6 inch fans and removed the fan i originally had in there that was sat on top of a box and now both plants have a bit more room to breath and grow :)

There's a nice mixed aroma filling the room now and it's nice to wake up to haha, the PF smells a lot more fruity than the TD though but i'm still so excited to try both these beauties!

ENJOY! :smokeit:

Sound like a great idea man but i'm in a predicament lol. I'm renting where i live atm and it isn't a house it's a flat so i can't make any major modifications to the place or drill into the upstairs flat and steal their air haha :P

I think worst case scenario i'll leave the cupboard open at night and shove some ear plugs in.
