Hello all. I'm new to growing and recently planted in Coco but have a couple of issues, hope you guys could help:

Strain: Heavyweight Fast & Vast
Medium: Canna Coco
Temp: 26ºC Average
Humidity: 40-60%
Day: 13
Nutrients: Started with a Seed Nutrient mix from a local hydro shop for 12 days(which was 300ppm), now starting Canna Coco A&B (starting at 300ppm)
Water Ph'd to 5.8

So far the grow has been going well, but yesterday i noticed some yellowing patches on the leaves as you can see from the pic below, any help would be awesome.

Welcome to AFN neurotic, mate i reckon you will find this site very useful. You will probably need to be adding some cal mag to your feeds. This is a common def in coco. It can also be made worse if you are growing under led. Hope this helps.

Hi Neurotic :)

300 ppm is a little low to feed canna coco. They recommend no less than 0.8 EC to keep the buffers in check.(depending on your meter, that's somewhere between 400-560 ppm).

I would up the feed a little. at that point about 1.0 EC (500-700ppm)

There's a possibility with using LED (as I do (aswell as canna coco)) that you could get a cal mag def. There's an easy way to avoid that ... add cal mag :) you can get it in a bottle from a hydro shop. I add a little with every feed and haven't had a problem since.

Hope this helps
All ths best

thanks for the posts, i will up the ppm and see how it goes.

Unfortunately i cant get cal mag in my country but i have ordered some from america and i should have it in a week or so.

How much Cal mag do you normally add to 1 Litre of water??

I use about 1-1.5ml per litre. By the time flowering comes, i kinda stop measureing it exactly - it's two good squirts from my pipette which works out about 6ml in 4 litres of water. (along with all the other nutes of course)

Keep an eye on your leaves, if you start to see the rust spots, up it a bit.

You cant gt cl mag supplements. doubt it. ? Remember a measurement of 300 ppm is including your water baseline. So if your water is shit, at 150-200ppm then your running an actual 100 ppm nutes. Am I right? I am never scared to over feed my coco. They just power through everything. My two cents. I feed mine whatever is in my bucket at the time. Sometimes I don't even know if its water or a hydro mix for bloom. And it just grows. I have so much ease with coco.

Just a update,

The discoloration on the leaves are getting worse and the tips of the leaves are drooping.

I have started to add 1 ml per litre of cal mag but it hasn't helped.

Im currently at 550ppm, (Canna coco A&B + Cal-Mag)

any ideas?

Well considering your in vedge and running like 300 ppm (Minus your water) your underfeeding. Im at 2000 ppm canna flora for bloom. You need to be upwards of 1400 my friend. Read the bottle. 1.8 EC is what you want.

Someone has already told you this and your still at 300 ppm. If you do the same thing you will get the same results. Best of luck. Listen to AFN. :Sharing One:

Thanks for the reply, i did try to up the ppm as previously suggested, but i was getting bad nute burn. I will give it another crack and see if i get any success.

Cheers
