Nice looking setup man, it looks super clean and effective. If plant counts don't scare you, I would do the SOG. I have noticed significant benefits from being able to keep the lights directly ontop of the entire canopy as opposed to different sized plants receiving different amounts of light. They really blow up when everything is in the sweet spot, or goldilock s zone of the light. Also, it will simplify youre feeding, and watering schedules. I just harvested a northern light auto, and left the leaves on for the same exact reasons as you. It worked nicely to regulate the drying, but a total fucking nightmare to trim. I was not enjoying myself lmao. I have looked into the oil, and it seems very easy. Ecigs are a little convoluted to me still, but my cousin is an expert on them and has a bunch so I'll tinker around with them. Any opinions about the taste / efficiency of smoking the oil, though? Does it take significantly more THC to achieve the same effect of smoking? I know it's hard to really measure since it has gone through an extraction process. I will be making a decent sized batch of oil, despite still not knowing if my grandmother is interested... If it can be smoked efficiently I won't hesitate.to make a large batch
Thanks Skatter! I'm really stoked with my new veg setup. I highly recommend anyone with a 2x4 tent to consider it. I basically doubled my veg area and just used up space that wasn't being used anyways.
Don't get me started on plant count. I think it's the dumbest restriction ever. That's like putting a count on how many tomato plants I can grow. Or even on how much barely or tobacco I could grow.
How can a cancer patient grow enough medicine when they can only flower 3 plants at a time? The easy answer is to grow gigantic plants but that's really only economically feasible outdoors. Unfortunately in most states you have to have your grow "locked and secured". I read that as strictly indoors for the most part. Basically when you look at it this way plant counts are a way of protecting the big pharma companies because they know that patients can't grow adequate medicine for serious illnesses with these limitations. There are allowed exceptions to this rule but good luck getting one.
An even canopy for me is attainable regardless of what container size I use. I just elevate the containers to even it out. For me there's pros and cons for big plants vs small plant SOG.
Mainly IMO a SOG is easier to water (with a drop feed/drain table), gives a bigger variety, is easier to run a perpetual, and less chips in one basket.
A large plant is less maintenance, less to mess up, larger yields, impressive to look at and in my experience they seem to be happier/healthier.
I'll be testing both sizes for the next several grows before I make a final determination. I may end up running both indefinitely because I like running a variety of methods.
As far as THC and oil my understanding is it all comes down to THC content. Most strains now days average 15-20% THC. When you smoke the oil version your averaging 80% THC.
Efficient? Lol Probably about as efficient as shooting up crack vs smoking it or taking shots of patron vs in a margarita. That's part of my hesitance in getting into this until I have lbs of extra supply because essentially your going to increase your tolerance. At the same time if you want to feel like you just smoked for the first time again dabbing is where it's at
Hope this helps. Sorry most of my knowledge is theoretical.
