Hey All,

I haven't grown in like 10 years, since Uni days and I FINALLY bought my own place. Got a sweet space out back to do it all so I decided to give it a crack. After reading up on it all, Think Different from Dutch Passion seems to be the best for Newbies, so I got a 7 pack of that. I also got 11 other singles. Some were samples and others were for me to test before I invested in a multi-pack.

I'll most likely need help every step of the way and this thread will serve that purpose and also provide others with my journey and hopefully we can all learn from what will be my TOTAL ineptitude.

The Equipment:
Strain:Think Different By Dutch passion
Medium:Soil
Container:Most likely a 15-30 Liter pot after seeing BillyWu's threads
Tent: Secret Jardin Darkroom 2mx3mx2m or however you want to write that
Lights:600W HPS (I have 2 at Hand and a bunch of other wattages, 600 would be best no?)
Nutrients:Canna and Rock Nutrients ( Was going to experiment with a few plants and compare what works best
Temp + pH:Like BillyWu about 6.6-7 for pH and
75°F (23c) - 80°F(26c) during lights on, 65°F (18c) - 70°F (21c) lights off
Location:QLD, Australia. In-between Bundaberg and Hervey Bay. Enough distance for my security but gives y'all an appx area for Temp control comparison as my Tent is in an outdoors shed on my property.

I will leave some pics of the equipment as I don't have any grow pics yet and some of you may be interested in what I have. I don't know how I am germinating yet. I have a Secret Jardin propagator and may use that or just the simple plonk in water.

If anyone is wondering why I have so much gear and 'top shelf' gear, I used to be HEAVY into African Violets and other horticulture until I had a big ass car accident. I didn't just do the newbie buy EVERYTHING BECAUSE ITS COOL thing, it's all previously owned gear :)

That's all for now, thanks for your attention. I will leave some pics of the seeds ( help me decide what else to grow!!) and equipment for those that are interested.

Also attached in a seed starter/electric propagator I picked up from bunnings for 50, thought of giving it a try too....I am all about experimenting and comparing. I am a statistics/maths nerd.

Welcome to AFN, Retribution! :tiphat:
Looking forward to watching your grow.
A great place to start, kinda let the folks know you're here, would be the introductions forum.
Glad to have you aboard!

Hey and welcome!
Looking great right from the start. I too am using the Rock nutrient line. I like it a lot. Although I don't have much to compare too, my plants seem to have taken off since I started using them. Nam80232 did a comparison grow with Fox Farm the results were eye opening. One thing with them is to keep pH at 5.8 for veg. I was told this by a company rep from Rock.
I am looking forward to following along.
Peace and happy growing!

Thanks for the welcome guys.

I met the guy that started rock and his sister is a good friend so I thought I'd give it a try. Friendships aside he has made a VERY good product and I have had success with a number of other plants, can't wait to see how well it goes here as they were designed with MJ in mind. I might have to look at that comparison but there is so much I have to look at right now. I got about 10 AFN tabs open.

Nice.

I noticed you had the little seed starter trays. They don't get used much in autoflowers.
They don't like transplanting. What I do is use an organic starter pot, usually 8 oz or more.
When I am ready to plant, I cut the bottom out and put it in the grow pot. Plant it high because
the leaves tend to droop a bit.

Welcome MissRetribution,
That should keep you busy - I'm a new grower too - few grows behind me.
Good to have a science person on board - lotta clever people here.
That's a fair number of seeds for a little tent! - but I'm assuming
they are not all going in.
I reckon you have a good climate for autos,
mainly keeping them cool will be an issue right?

What I was going to do is stick them in those trays inside one of, or both, propagators just in moist soil. when a certain height then just pop the dirt cube out and in the pot it goes. Less chance of disturbing root structure but some would argue to go right in pots from the beginning, I just want to experiment with the propagators and test their efficiency at germinating. Also I do have peat and rock wool cubes as well. I Love those pots too so I may get some in a day or two.

The Tent is, to Clarify;

3 Meters Wide
2 Meters Deep
2 Meters High

I say Meters but others use cm. It isn't a massive commercial room but it is sizeable. How many plants I will put in there I do not know. I was thinking 4 to begin with. I am using my computer to design a scrog screen that will make efficient use of the light and fit with the frame but for now I am doing it old school in soil and just straight up. Yes that is a few seeds and as I said I will do 4 (?) as for what strains this time either ALL Think Different or TWO of them and TWO others. I am open to suggestions. The climate is pretty good out here but with flood season and my setup being in an open shed/american barn out the back, humidity will be my biggest issue.

You roll that up in some quality cigar sheet and I am a happy lady my friend. With a good red wine or cognac. Put on some Johnny Cash on the record player.....yeah...this grow couldn't happen fast enough. Its funny, because ten years ago I would abhor this stuff, yet now I embrace it both recreationally and medicinally.

EDIT: I correct myself, it is;

3 wide
3 deep
2 high

Not massive I concur, but for just me it is more than adequate. I am truly at a loss as to how many. One big ass plant?? Two?? Four?? Suggestions, as always, are welcome. Also, remember I have 600W HPS ready to use and other wattages that only need a globe.

Howdy ma'am,

Good to see someone else back into it. Lookin' like you have everything you'll need, and then some. Welcome!

Very nice start Indeed. On thing stands out though. Ph meter, and highly recommended but not completely needed ppm meter. Your very well versed in bio, so you know better then me but if you run into problems ph readings will be asked so we can help you if the need should ever arise. Much :karma Cloud: sub'ed.
