New Grower First Grow After Ten Years Out - Think Different and [Undecided]

This is looking real interesting - I never even heard of a 'ghetto air-conditioner' before!
No - your head won't explode - but I know the feeling!

I think I'll be on a learning curve here. Which is good...

I also believe that no matter how new I might be to growing these Auto plants, if I document everything in great detail the will be someone that could possibly learn from what I do.
Documentation, it's a new thing for me, but I find I rather enjoy documenting my grow. I have been in IT for 25 years and don't document worth a *** but remember most of it, like IP addresses and stuff usually. However when it comes to this, I find it relaxing, others have said my journal is shall we say "detailed". At any rate looking forward to all you have to say and all the photos you care to post!!
I too love the puzzles that this presents on a daily basis. I live for learning new stuff, and boy there is sure a lot to learn here.
The A/C is a challenge, look forward to how you resolve it. I am leaning towards using an air-conditioner myself when the time comes. I am looking into an inexpensive split type.
Peace and happy growing!

I feel that these journals are for the most part, for the grower's not the site so much, it's a way to look back on what you did, see what it looked like be for you did it.. And I still keep a note book with notes in it also....So if any one says its to detailed or you have to many pictures? I would say they can find another thread to fallow......

'ghetto air-conditioner'

I use 'ghetto'as a sort of stereotypical nomenclature to describe something cheaply built.

Sort of like this

I have read your thread and i thoroughly enjoy your documentation, it appeals to me greatly and I hope you keep up that level and I still wish you nothing but the best of luck with your grow.

GoAuto6, what you have said is entirely correct. It is just as much motivation for me as it is anyone else. I concur wholeheartedly. I also must respectfully add that I personally think it is helpful for other users in the sense that they can see how I, and others;

- Set things up
- what we use
- problems we face and how we deal with it

Its like a reference text book, I make the mistakes, face the problems and 'do the math' so they don't have to.

If I say that along with this thread I have a separate notebook and lead pencil for doing the exact thing I am doing here is THAT too detailed? ;)

I, um, erm....may or may not have ACTUALLY done this a decade or so ago when I was a poor student and had to drive across the country to another uni for a study week. I didnt tape mine to the window, rather I used a dual battery setup and inverter in the boot of my wagon.

The ladies are in and under lights. Soil is pH'd to about 6.5, It isn't perfect nor is that figure EXACT but it close enough to ideal that I am not concerned in the slightest.

At the days peak of temperature and with some vents open and a 600W HPS on this is as HOT as it gets. It is currently ( 5:38pm) at 31 C ( 87 f ) so again, my worries were simply that, a worry. SURE, ideally you want it colder BUT it isn't overly deathly. I was expecting 40's to 50's ( 104 - 122 ) so this is pleasant. Again, I know it can be cooler but this is HOTTEST and even then it doesn't last that long before it cools. If I were to average it out, I would say 33C ( 91 F ).

As usual, discussion is welcomed.

Peace N Love to all

Was looking through your journal so far; what are you using for extraction fans/ventilation inside the space? Are you relying on passive air intakes for your circulation?

So far it is all passive with some intelligent vent opening and closing at the right times. I HAD fans but it seems the water and/or humidity from the latest floods has damaged them and I cant get any fans just yet so passive/praying to every deity it is for now.
