New Grower First Grow! (Biodiesel Mass)

I put it in a pocket of peat to keep the seed from getting too hot and I've been spraying the top of the soil with water while only watering the soil when the top 2 inches were dry

Unfortunately, the first sprout died. I made the mistake of giving it nutrients while it was already in nutrient enriched soil. I germinated a new seed, planted it, and it sprouted! This one is looking a lot better than the last one. Pics below. Is it okay that the round leaves are a little brown?

This is day 5, by the way.

Day 12. Anyone happen to know why the leaves are curling up?

What is your ph on that plant bro and what kind of soil are you using? It could be over watering but looks more like the ph is out. She isn't happy at all, that is for sure.

welcome to AFN. I started growing last year and I have been having a lot of fun. Next time you might want to try Pro-mix for soil, I use ultamate, no mix and it has nutes for the first 10 days. I had and still have trouble controling my soil ph, do you mave a good meter? Hanna checker works well for me, about $35. I use disposable bags but will be switching to felt bags or air pots. Check out some of my past grows and you my be able to learn from my many mistakes. Try and water deeply and let the pot dry out, pick up the pot when it is wet and note the weight. If you water when the top is dry than the roots will stay at the top and the plant will be smaller. The first 4-6 weeks will be veg mostly, a third of that time is germinating and getting the first leaves so any problems in the beginning will effect yeild. Don't over feed, start with 1/4 recomended rate and don't exceed 1/2 recomended rate. Expect 2 or 3 weeks longer than advertised to harvest. Good luck and keep the faith.

The MiracleGro perlite has added nutrients also. The combination of FFOF and MG Perlite may be just a bit too HOT. I use Fox Farm Happy Frog and always have to add 1 teaspoon of dolomite lime per gallon. Peat based soils are acidic and the dolomite lime helps buffer the soil to @ ph 7.0.

Autoflowers grown in FFOF may not need nutrients untill flowering.

When I first start my girls in FFHF. I'll ph my water to 7.0 and see what my runoff is. Then adjust the water's ph as the girls grow. Right now my Bubbles are in the 2nd week of flower. My ph in is 6.2-6.4 and the runoff is 6.4-6.6. That's with the dolomite lime added to the soil.

95% of all plant troubles are ph issues. The FF soils that we use have enough nutrients from the start. Your soil ph has to be 6.0-7.0 for your girls to get all the nutriens without lock out.

I don't have a ph meter so I wouldn't know. Would it be necessary for me to buy one? Also, I've only watered the plant once (excluding saturating the soil before planting) since I started, but I'll try waiting some more time before watering again.

I don't quite understand what you mean by "let the pot dry out"? So far, I've been following the conventional advice of waiting until the top 1-2 inches of soil is dry and then watering.
