New Grower First Grow - Dinafem White Widow Auto

I'll add to the support of the Blackstars, jonah. I'm running two 240W Blackstars in a roughly 6 sq. ft. chamber and I'm blown away with how well they've been performing. A whole lot of light for the money spent. :2cents:

Thanks for the wisdom Muddy. Planning on purchasing more lights; however, for the moment just going to start by growing one plant, but wanted a grow tent that I could, well, grow into. Will it be feasable for my light to cover a single plant in the tent, or is more lights/smaller tent a must?

I was just checking out the Blackstar LED website. Do you have any information on the new EFSF 4 2013 series? http://www.blackstarled.com/180wss2013.html It's stating a coverage area of 3'x3' (9 square feet) as opposed to the 240's 3'x2' coverage. Basically stating that the new series is better in all ways. Though from what I can see, it only has 3 light bands and 60 LED's, as opposed to the 240's 6 light bands and 80 LED's. I was looking at the pro-grow line because of countless recommendations and grow journals devoted to them on other websites (not that I'm a member of any of them.

The pro-grow claims a 14 light band.

Just wondering if it would make more sense to go with the pro-grow 180, new Blackstar EFS or the Blackstar 240?

I haven't seen those new Blackstars and don't have time at the moment to check them out. Will do later when I have more time.

The 180 watt light is plenty for 1 or 2 plants.

Just got a notification that my grow tent was delivered at home, only problem is that I'm stuck here at work. The clock is very slow today.

Well, my tent came yesterday, I set it up while the fiance was out. She hasn't noticed it yet, but I'm not sure what her reaction will be when she realizes that I've taken up a quarter of her closet. It's a 4'x4'x6' GYO Supplies GYO1008. Snapped a quick photo on the way out the door this morning.

So, just got a nice bonus at work (which is the only way the mrs would let me spend all this money), and this is what is on order for the grow.

Light - Pro-grow 180 from hydroponicshut
Carbon Filter - Phresh 4"x12" 200CFM
Fan - Sunleaves WindTunnel 4" 200CFM
Soil - BioBizz Light-Mix
Nutrients - BioBizz
- BioGrow
- BioBloom
- FishMix
- Alg-A-Mic
- Root Juice
- BioHeaven
- TopMax

Plus I already have the seeds (3 dinafem auto white widow and 1 reserva privada OG kush), tent (above) and 3 gallon smart pots.

I believe that is everything, am I missing something?

Hey hey jonah, congrats on the new tent bro!! That thing is badass!

Looks like you've got most of what you need. The only things I didn't see on your list was a water pH pen and a soil pH probe. Those are essential tools and will make your grow exponentially easier if you have them on hand. For a water pH pen, check out the Hanna combo pens. For a soil probe, check out the Control Wizard Accurate 8 Soil / Moisture meter.

Thank you.

They are both actually in the Amazon shopping basket, but you're right, they didn't make the list above for some reason. I guess that's what happens when you got no green.

What moisture and ph do you find works best?

Light came Tuesday, just got it set up last night. I made the mistake of staring into it to make sure all the bulbs worked. They all are shinging bright, though I'm still seeing spots. I'm going to need to get a pair of shades to wear when going in there. Everything else will hopefully be here by next week so I can finally get this damn party started.

I've read in a few places online that a water treatment and softener system is bad for your plants. That the solar salt used in the system destroys the root system. I have well water and a treatment/softener system. They say you should just use the spicket for the hose outside because it isn't run through the system. Any experience/thoughts on the subject? Looks like I'm going to be carrying some buckets in the cold.
