New Grower First Grow: Dinafem White Widow Auto

I"m almost a total noob, so take the following accordingly...

I would be concerned with a runoff pH of 5.9. Although there are probably better solutions, for eight day old plants I would raise the pH of your water, maybe to 7.8 and see how they respond. Personally, as a FFOF user (mixed with FFHF) I'm not terribly surprised (but disappointed) by the first pH reading, I am really surprised that your second reading was that low. BTW, my first and only grow was WW (Ministry of Cannabis) and I'm Day 25 of a redo of my first grow. Very happy with results and very interested in how your grow goes.

Good Luck with grow!

Although you say your a noob i appreciate the response and the advice! Is your soil more stable with a mix of FFOF and FFHF? I think for my next grow i might go away from FFOF.

Thanks again for the kind words.

I mix the two to temper the OF's "hotness" a bit and I make a pocket of HF only to plant the seed. Seems to work Ok for me. But based on numerous posts here it seems that FF product consistency has gotten worse. I have soil(s) for a coupla' grows but may/will switch when I run out. Growing is challenging (and fun!) enough that large soil variances bag to bag are not really needed. I do like FF trio as long as you're careful in terms of when you start and how much to use.

Hey man, nice job on the grow setup!

I got 2 Dinafem Blue Amnesia XXL Autos going at the moment so I'll go ahead and pull up a chair too if you don't mind. I keep hearing awesome things about the WW Auto from this breeder so I think you'll be happy with the outcome.

Also, I'v been using FFOF for 3 years and while I loved it, there are better products out there. I also read that Fox Farms is not run by the same people anymore and that quality control has gone down with bags. Fungus gnats, uncomposted material (acidic pH), large rocks/bark/fill.

I used Roots Organic 707 next and wow. Really sticky, aromatic resins and enough feed in it for 8 weeks. Only problem is the price.

I'm currently testing Sanctuary Soils Empire Builder. So far its going well with the XXL's.

Just passing on some info. Good luck with the rest of the grow.

Hey thanks for stopping by Ego and glad to have you aboard this grow. Im really excited to see how these WWs turn out. I also think that im going to steer away from FFOF for my future grows. Im currently trying to figure out what im going to use. I also am thinking about going hydro.

Do you have a journal going for your XXLs?

Tomorrow I will be receiving my new tent and grow light. The tent is the same width and height but is 2 feet longer and i got a cool tube reflector so that hopefully I can run my light at 100% which is 400watt instead of the 200-300 watts im running right now.

No, no journal yet. I was going to start one later when the plants get a little older. Seedlings are kinda boring to watch grow.

Update Day 11

Today is day 11 from sprout. I watered today with straight tap water that sat out 24 hours but i did not change the pH of it at all because i have been having low pH runoff so I left it as is at 7.8. It doesnt matter what ph water I water with the runoff pH is always 5.8-6.0. Is this the fox farms soil being crap? Is there anything I can do to change this?

Other than that the 2 girls are looking great and very healthy. WW2 is a little behind WW1 but both still look good.

There loving their new home and new light. I will also put up pictures of that as well.

Update Day 16

Hey Everyone! Today is day 16 in my first weed journey and things are still good. I decided to wait to water until it showed signs of needing water so that I know what it looks like so that I can avoid it in the future. They were still nice and perked up when i pulled them out of the tent but as soon as i watered they kind of drooped a little.

Anyways I'm still battling the low soil pH. Today i watered with water pH'd to 7.7 and got run offs of 6.1 from WW1 and 6.0 from WW2. So far all the runoffs from the waterings have been around 5.7-5.9 so i finally got it up into the 6's. Although with this problem both plants look very healthy. It has been really cool to even watch the seedling grow and cannot wait to watch while she flowers.

Temps: 74-80 degrees
Humidity: 30-55%

WW1 is almost 3" tall and throwing out tons of leafs and WW2 is about 2" tall.
