New Grower First grow ever! Northern lights AF

Well today is day 76. i think my days got off a little somewhere. They are still bulking up even after feeding plain distilled water!!! I got some pics for you guys. There is still lots of green left so im not sure how long they will take. I also cant see any amber in the techs. Will the amber color be noticeably visible?? Thanks for the help guys!!

And the one main cola with my hand next to it is about the size of a 12oz soda can!!!

EDIT: Also ive read that doing a 24-48 hour dark period before harvest is a good idea? Anyone recommend this or deny it for any reason??

Nice grow calvin, your plants look real good. Alot of people say on here that some autoflower strains don't show amber trichs. Have a read of muddy's thread. I hope this helps

HAHA yeah I actually read it after I made the post. I was still kinda confused as to when to harvest. Is it after all the fan leafs fall off and the sugar leafs start to turn colors? ill have to go through it again.....

Well i went through it again and looks like ill be taking the one that is the tallest down today. The other two still have a decent amount of white hairs and were still bulking up a few days ago with the fan leaves falling off still. So as far as the dark period, is it just something people say because it sounds good or is there any truth to it? Also I dont really have any separate spot to hang my plant. Would it be ok to hang it in the tent with the other 2 still growing?? I know you dont want to have any air blowing directly on the plant just around it. I think the other 2 will be coming down in a few days maybe.

Basically im just looking for the best way to get this one down. LOL. After they all come down i Will be using my grow tent as the drying tent.

I'm probably not the best person to ask as I'm only on my first grow myself. But, from what I have read from other people, drying it in your tent is okay but not whie you have other plants growing as drying needs complete darkness. It think it is really important for the plant to be in the dark during the drying period. As for the dark period from what i have read about it, it is just peoples different opinion. Some people believe in it and some don't bother. so its entirely up to you! Hope this helps.

Ya, those yellow sugar leaves look like when my photo plants tell me it's time to check the trichomes... Good to know they are an indicator of doneness on autos, even if the trichs don't change.

Bet that's gonna be some goooood smoke....

Well i did the deed and chopped the tallest of the 3 down. It was the most yellow and was SCREAMING for me to take her . Here are some pics of before and after. The weights are before and after a good trim. I've never trimmed a bud in my life but I think they look pretty damn good!!!


Dont mind all my crap in the background, i dont have much space to work with . So about 90g wet from one plant. Im hoping that I can get a oz out of it once its cured. This was the smallest one that was in my tent at the time. For a while it was looking like this was going to be the biggest of the 3 with the most yield but the other 2 just blew up about a week ago and are still swelling!! Will this be the best place for me to hang my plants to dry?? I was thinking of getting a rubbermaid tub but im not sure how i would get air flow through it.

Ok so my other two plants have a decent amount of green to them and they also still have a lot of white hairs. Probably about 50/50 White/orange. Would it still be ok to harvest them with white hairs or should I wait? Today is probably day 80 or so. Let me know what you guys think!
