Light pruning today, got rid of a bunch of growth I didnt want today. Gave her a light watering as well. Soil was basically almost dry.

Trying to improve the airflow and keep the plant focused on its main branches and developing the canopy, even though most of this growth is rich green it was almost all completely in the shadows of the fan leaves above them.

Pretty sure those tips are damaged now. Dont know what happened. Everything else looks good

    Update (week 6)
  • Got off all weekend which is thursday through sunday this week so I thought Id post an update after the defoliation yesterday.
    20220909_125905.jpg

She seems to be taking it very well and the watering seems to have helped a lot of the tip discoloration on those couple fan leaves so thats cool.

    Week 6 comtinued
  • View attachment 20220911_094505.jpg

She seems to be doing well

Newer growth seems to be staying much lighter in color as it gets older, dont know if thats anything to worry about, and theres a few leaves that look like they are showing magnesium deficiency, or at least it looks like it. Either that or nitrogen deficiency. They seem to both start out similar but magnesium seems much more subtle than nitrogen deficiency. Which is why Im leaning that way

To be safe I added about 2 cups of fresh soil and watered lightly it to see if it would change anything later friday night.

    Week 7
  • So everyone says my plant isnt as bad as it seems and Wednesday night I gave it a pretty big watering about a gallon of 6.55ph water and saw a good butof run off took a pick thursday morning and she was nicer looking but the yellowing was still getting worse, but she perked up a bit.

Last night I thought It would be a good idea to train the top 2 branches down a little bit but I dont know if it was that or I over watered a bit but now she looks just like before just a hair taller
    20220916_210639.jpg

Hoping it bounces back soon pot is still heavy but its a good deal lighter than right after the watering,

Also while I was moving stuff around I noticed a few roots poking out through the top of the soil around the plant....Idk what to do about that. They look healthy. Havent done anything about it but try and cover them up with surrounding dirt. Any help here would be nice, seems like just by feel my little 15-18 inch tall plant has roots pretty much from top to bottom in this thing. Its pretty firm about an inch down but not like its packed its definitely roots....theres no possibke way this plant is becoming rootbound is there?

Anyway considering feeding with the next watering at a half dose just to see if it helps

Mid week 7 (nute problems figured out)
  • 20220918_200412.jpg

Forgot to take pics of the foliage I trimmed off but rust colored spots appeared all over yesterday while at work

Trimmed away a good chunk of effected foliage but I believe my soil is overloaded on the 3 main N-P-K

I believe the excess potassium is giving me symptoms of mag deficiency. And I believe Im seeing trace symptoms of other secondary nutrient deficiencies from the nutes battling it out down there. Im going to vigorously flush it whenever possible but Im starting to think Im screwed

    Week 8

So I administered the sledgehammer flush last night. 1.5 gal with the recommended 2tsp per gal flush.
I let the soil dry out pretty well before hand so I gave it a small pre-water about 2 hours before and sure enough the water almost ran straight through so it was DRY. After sitting all night she actually looks better to me at least all that newer growth in the canopy has opened up halfway at least. Not to mention those 2 main tops look a little more ridged today and not so floppy, but thats prolly just because she got water

Did another slurry test after the prewater and Idk whats up but my soil was testing a ph of 5.5 which is super low compared to the 6.3 from 2 weeks ago and I only watered with plain water with a ph of 7.1, been noticing though that the soil seems to turn acidic pretty regularly, is that normal?

Other than that everything else is still pretty much the same as far as temps and rh. I did notice though that she stunted a bit, she hasnt grown vertically at all in the last week at least no new growth that Ive noticed. She just droops and stands more upright hopefully the flush will help there too cuz I want to make sure shes not stunted before I flip her to 12/12

    Week 8 continued.
  • So the flush helped, its only been a day amd a half but color is starting to come back to normal, some of the leaves minorly effected by that interveinal chlorosis are starting to become more green again and surprisingly it seems to be pulling out of its little stint of being stunted. Theres still a good deal of yellow tips and I have about 3 leaves I can see with those rusty spots on em. But overall I was pleased with how she responded.

Repositioned the pot and dropped my scrog net down, its time to open up the middle and start filling the tent out a bit, with the stunted week I had I think Im gonna let her veg for another 2-3 weeks maybe even a month then its time to switch cycles. Will prolly get another net and open things up a little further when I switch to 12/12

Even with all that trimming I did this this is still its own little mini jungle. So freaking bushy.

Shes kinda pale but shes more perky today than shes been in weeks but I'll take that as a +. Positive the flush helped. Watered yesterday with .75 gal and a dose of ff bushdocter boomerang. Pot is almost drank dry already.

gonna give it another .5 gal of plain distilled tomorrow after work. And prolly one more feeding of boomerang on thursday or Friday. Then Im going back to a regular veg feeding schedule for 2 to 3 more weeks. Hopefully by then all the new growth will be a healthy green again. I was dreading trying to fix this thing at first and somehow its become enjoyable.

    Week 8 continued.
  • So plant is looking better besides overall color. Gave her 1 gal instead of .5 she needed it pot was almost dry. And there was 0 run off with .5gal. Still planning on giving her another watering in 2-3 days, but with the way she is responding lately I was thinking about giving her a halved dose of a normal feed instead of using just boomerang.

    Week 9
  • So Im a couple days into week 9. The less water more often thing, thats definitely working. Shes gulping water like crazy watered her 3 times in the past week.
    20221001_075748.jpg

The only thing ive noticed that I havent seen before is the new tops are growing their fan leaves a little uneven. Meaning that each set of new fan leaves is growing 1 on top of the other on each side of the branch. From what Ive seen fan leaves grow perpendicular to the main stem directly in line but for some reason about a few weeks after the top one fan leaf grows first then the other comes in shortly after creating a weird bend at each new node. Im sure its genetic related. Or maybe just the way it grew with all the minor stress Ive put it under in the last month.

    20221001_080644.jpg

Overall Im very happy with the way she bounced back in the last few weeks. Leaves arent tacoing anymore except in lights out when the humidity spikes which is usually only the day after a watering
Cant wait for this thing to get about another 8-12 inches taller that about my cutoff point for flowering if the plant doubles in size that should fill out my tent as well as possible with 1 plant. Im starting to get impatient though I wanna see this thing flower!
