New Grower First Grow, on the cheap....

Sorry it took so long to reply goauto6, i test my ph after nutes are added

mg.jpgmy babys.jpg

If there growing well dont mess with them. I hate cutting any thing off that is healthy and providing energy. Once the plants stretch you will need the leaves .
I am using MG 10-10-10 with no issues, really have not needed it so far using fox farms and happy frog.

I'm confused are thse nuggets pic's??????

Nope those arent my girls, i only have two. i think he was responding to a question earlier in the thread about LST and the removal of fan leaves. Ive just been LST'ing a bunch and only removing fan leaves that are heavily shadowing nodes. Seems to be working so far and they are starting to bush out pretty nicely. Ill throw up pics of them after i do the flush we were discussing. In regards to that when im doing the flush am i using higher ph'd water? 7.5 for my purposes, since my soil ph is essentially one solid point low? and then testing the last 10% of run off to see where im at, and then a light 1/8 - 1/4 feed immediately after? I plan on doing it on my next watering since i had just fed them on the day i posted the question.

Day 50 Update

So I went ahead and flushed them today with 7.0 bubbled distilled water at double their pot size ( 1 1/2 gal pots so 3 gal flush ) final 10% of runoff was coming out at 6.5 on one and 6.8 on the other.Which puts me at a soil ph of 6.6 and 6.0 respectively. So from here on out ill be watering at as close to 6.5 as i can get to try and maintain the 6.5 range. I didnt feed them after the flush because this would have been an off feed watering anyway so i figured they could just take the flush. Here are a few pics immediately post flush.

I also decided to throw together a little bubble cloner out of a tupperware and spare stuff laying around.

Got a 4' fan and filter combo ordered yesterday and on the way. With any luck I'll have my xbox ans stuff sold thursday and that will allow me to get a tent and 400 cool tube hps /mh. If everything goes smoothly im hoping to maybe get a small perpetual photo goin on but we'll see lol. Once these guys sex and i know if I have a lady I'll attempt to take a few clones and see if i can get them rolling.

New Toyz YAY!

So i was able to get my gaming gear sold and managed to get a 2' deep, 4' long, 5' tall tent ordered and an ipower 400w cooltube digital Mh / Hps to go along with the 190 cfm 4" fan and 12" carbon filter i had mentioned in my last post. the last of my order came in today and i finally got it setup.

I'm planning on taking clones from the plant that i believe is showing female ( please PLEASE feel free to correct me if im wrong)

Im not sure on my second plant ( at least not as semi sure as i am about the first) in regards to sex. It looks like balls and no pistils and is starting to show later than the first even though they were germed on the same day and popped soil on the same day.

These are just noob guesses and would love some feedback in regards to what you guys think about sex since i would really love to attempt cloning a female before i put them to 12 /12. I still plan on using my closet for vegging under 6500K cfl's and flouros while i have a set flowering in the tent to ( with any luck ) get a perpetual going on, to supply my own needs and finally cut out that damn dealer!

I do have a question about the tent though. Not sure anyone else has had this issue but i figured id ask. I know that during the dark times for the ladies we want it as dark as possible. Im getting some light through the vent flaps on the bottom without them even being " open". I really want to keep the one across the tent from the fan open "open" but this will surely let in more light than i would like through the screen mesh that is under the flap. Has anyone else had this issue and if so, how did you address it? will that small amount of light be detrimental to my yield? im just unsure.

Also I plan on using the home made bubble cloner i pictured earlier to get some clonage going. I purchased some cloning / rooting agent from the local wally world and was just going to put cuttings over 3 nodes long into rock wool cubes in my cloner with 6.5 ph water in its res. Is there anything else i need to watch out for or can do to increase my possible success rate? I plan on taking 4 clones and hoping that 3 will take since the tent i purchased will barely hold 3 ladies, but that's enough for me!

Any and all feedback is always welcome and much appreciated. Thanks for stopping by guys and i look forward to your insight.

Anyone out there have any input on those two questions in my previous post? I really need to get these two into the tent and on 12 /12 to start flowering soon or else im afraid that they will get to tall for the tent. Im pretty sure that i have to take clones before that process starts correct? That and any input on the passive intake question would be sweet. Please and thanks! :peace:

Updatez!

So these two are currently on day 7 of 12/12 and seem to be loving the new tent setup. I'm hoping they don't stretch to crazy or else I am going to have space issues in the tent and may have to tie them down a bit. Next run I don't think I am going to let them veg for quite as long as I did this time.

90% sure this one is female

The nodes don't look anywhere near as yellow in person as they do in that photo.

I'm also 99% sure this one is male and will get the axe soon if i get the confirmation i suspect i will here.

These pics were taken just after a good watering this morning so that's why they are a bit droopy. If this one does get the axe, ill likely experiment with some edibles with it so that im not wasting the time and resources spent on growing it to begin with.

Since i wasnt able to get any replies regarding my cloning questions I went ahead and did what i thought was best based on what i have and what ive read. I am a tad concerned about how they are holding up. They have been in the bubble cloner for a week now and still seem droopy. the one in the front sustained damage and i know wont make it. ive just been to lazy to pull it out.

Im going to be picking up bags of ocean forest and perlite within a day or two and im thinking i may be better off putting the three that seem "ok" into soil sooner rather than later. But i was hoping to have the time to get the new soil ph set and spot on before i transplanted from the cloner. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Started to feed blooming nutes (MG bloom booster, yea yea i know...Will be getting the fox farm trio with my next check two weeks from now)today and cant wait to start seeing some flowering actually take place and buds begin to appear. But all in due time i guess.

One last pic for shits and giggles of the setup running with the "ladies" in it.

Thanks for swinging by ladies and gents! ANY and ALL feedback is encouraged and welcome! Please feel free to leave me with your 2c folks!

Yeah, "on the cheap" never seems to work, eh? Really upgraded the grow man, you're gonna like the results from having just two plants under that light - and you did it right, didn't skimp on anything.

Great pictures when you asked about sex by the way, yes that was a female.

The clones don't appear to be holding up too well in the bubble cloner, usually they'd only look like that in the first 3-4 days, then they should perk up a bit.. interesting.. they may not make it. For cloning you only need a 10W CFL about 14-16" off the top of the plants, no closer - also, believe it or not I've had much better success using red (2700k) CFLs for this purpose. Too much light for clones is a bad thing, and too close is a bad thing. I use straight up water from the tap in my clone bucket, no pH, no de-chlorination, 68-70 degrees, change it every 4 days, usually have roots in 6-8 days.

Unless you're shining a flash light in the vent flaps all the time or have a constant light on that's bright and aimed at the flaps, I don't think it'll make much of a difference there brother. I get a little light in my photo cab and have no ill effects.. not a ton, but I'm sure sometimes a tiny bit gets dripped in there.
