New Grower First grow Speed devil auto and purple jems auto

Hey I think internode is the distance between two sets of leaves. Foggy memory of botanical nomenclature.
So maybe you've had some vertical growth or stretch of your plants.

 correct you are bro!

love those purple pictures enigma!

plants are looking good -- how much lights do you have exactly in there?
and besides the gnats are you having any temp issues / or any other issues?

your plants are a little on the small side at 3 weeks.
(my first run at 3 weeks were way smaller! lol / 2nd run however is a different story)

Hey Storms :smokebuds:

Do you know what the pH of your soil is?

Also, in going back through the thread it seems like your soil is pretty dense and doesn't contain much perlite or similar materials. I think part of the reason your plants might be a little bit behind is because the soil remains saturated - they remind me of plants that I grew where I forgot to add more perlite to my soil mix. Our sacred plant likes a nice sine wave when it comes to moisture levels in the soil. If you don't think your pots are drying out fast enough, you can get some skinny bamboo skewers or chop sticks and carefully poke aeration holes down into your pots the day after you water. This well help to aerate the soil, drive out the excess moisture more quickly, and give the roots some breathing room. The medium on the top of your pots could also be preventing the pots from drying out quickly enough. :2cents:

Looking good man. My first few plants have been mirco plants mere inches tall and sometimes when you find the right form of growing for you it will change. My 16 day old Purple Jem is going to end up way bigger than my like 50-60day old Black Dragon, infact it's almost as big now. But the Black is mature and budding up. That was my attempt in some fert/perlite/peat and added NPK from Powerfeed. Before that straight soil and ferts with even lesser results.

Now I am using Nutrifield Coco and Nutrifield A + B nutes. I think I've found what I am using the next few grows even before this ones over:thumbs:

For a comparason I got the messuring tape out for ya!
Duurty Dragon width leaf tip-leaf tip is 5.6inches and Purple Jem Width leaf tip-leaf tip is 4.8inches today so day 16. DD's taller, PJ is short and stout.

lighting I have one 240v LED, 2 x 48w cfl's and 4 x 20w cfl's
heat and humidity is an issue mainly as I am growing in Summer and there is not much i can really do, I have a fan and have considdered putting some ice packs at the base of my grow box, the best growth spurt I had was guring 2 days of freak weather were the temps dropped dramaticly

my soils ph at last test was 6.5
I hade about 30% of peat moss mixed in my soil so its not so dence, it is quite airy. You might be on to something with the medium on top, they have slowed down since introducing the pebbles so I might try removing them, they were put down to eliminate a gnat outbreak but i have also used a deluted sprey and all the gnats are now gone

Has bro those die regularly....around 3 weeks I believe ...

thank you swampman, exactly what i wanted to hear as the rest of my babies looks great apart from the lack of size to date

That's why I suggested weighing your pots ;) so you know when its dry/light and wet/heavy. (or make mental notes of what feels heavy/light)

Having a protective layer over the soil inbtween it and the Lights' you use heat will be lessened, though sand draws water out aight. Like you said 30% of peat in there aswell should help. but with the Mediums you use I had more than my share of Over watering problems, either killing or stunting them.

My peat/pearlite/fert pot with my BDragon in it I only feed/water once, maybe twice a week and it is not alot! I like how it's turning out now so sometimes it's just a waiting game man.. Maybe try raise your lights a bit and get them to grow into the light some more. Good luck:wiz:

raising the lights are on my to do list on my weekend as it may have 2 bennifits, it can create stretching to help with growth, it will also take some heat further away from the plants
