Whats up guys, About to start my grow up and i wanted a place i can go to for troubleshooting along the way. i have been searching the internet like crazy and just absorbing as much knowledge as i can so i have a decent understanding, i mean ive been looking for years lol but REALLY looking lately. so here are the things i have for my setup.
-3x2x5 reflective tent
-600w dimable hps/mh cool hood light
-6in exhaust fan and filter
-FF ocean forest soil/FF happy frog soil/FF nutrient trio
-4 3 gallon smart pots
-bag of co2? lol shed light on this
-2 Dinafem auto white widow/2 diesel berry auto seeds
from what ive been reading i think i am goin to go straight to soil
Questions: Is fox farm suitable for Autos?
should i start them in the FF happy frog or just use the ocean forest from start to fin?
thanks, looking forward to starting! :tiphat:

also what do u suggest i dim light to? start mh and switch to hps or just mh?

Veg your plants with the MH and flower with the HPS since you have that option with that switch.:smokebuds:

I have never used the soil you are running with. Autos are pretty sensitive with nute stong soil to start out with though, but like I said I have never used that soil, so I am not much help with that."Woozy..?"
One Love and best of luck with your first grow. You definitely found the right site to get some info and advice... Welcome....

You should head over to the Introductions section and let the peeps know you are here to learn and you will get a proper welcome.

One Love and thanks for finding the site

When I was researching a different soil to try recently I almost went with Happy Frog/perlite 50/50 mix. Never came across Ocean Forest so I don't know anything about it. Personally I would go with HF the whole way. But I'm no expert so take that advice with a grain of salt.

Looks like a great setup and and would love to try those two strains.

edit: ultimately I chose Promix Ultimate Organic / perlite mix. Don't know how well it work but will be finding out soon

Hey and Welcome!!!
You are in the right place my friend!! Without these fine folks I would not have made it as far as I have, truly!!
I am using Fox Farms Happy Frog and Pro Mix with perlite.
I started with just Happy Frog and a little bit of perlite and it was just too hot for my first girl, a DinaFem critical x cheese. Now that she has grown a bit she seems to like it. If I might suggest, this may be a good method to start with. Find some potting soil with absolutely no nutrients at all, fill your pots with your soil mix and scoop out a fist size hole, fill that with the no nutrient soil. Now plant your baby in that space. Germinate how you will, paper towel, soil what have you. But I think that you'll find that the plain soil will allow the seed to start and then grow into the nutrient soil.
That is how I will do it from now on with all my auto girls!!
Peace and happy growing, here's a little :karma Cloud: to get you started.

thanks guys!!! ive been doing alot of searching on the ff ocean forest and it seems good to go for autos...no nutes needed until flower...any contesters? much appreciated

Welcome to our forum. We will be glad to help so just ask any questions you may have along the way. Some growers have had a problem with FFOF being to hot and causing young seedlings to have nute overload. I would go half and half with happy frog and OF.If you can't do that at least dig out some OF from the center of the pot and replace with HF. This will give the seedling a safer place to start and they will grow into the OF with a stronger root system. Even with OF I think it'sbest to use light veg feedings after the third week, at least every other watering. You will also need some cal-mag to prevent nute lockout.

Sounding good so far itscapital! Can we talk you into throwing up a few pictures of your setup? Would be nice to visualize some of the details here!

On a side, note, are you getting excited yet? You're going to LOVE the Dinafem White Widow autos (I admit I'm a Dinafem fan boy.) I've grown several on my first big auto grow and I've got two going in my current grow; MASSSSSSIVE buds on these ladies. Give them some time an the pistils will just turn flaring red with some of the stickiest, most resinous crystal coated leaves you've ever seen. Like, brush your finger against it and you could climb the walls like Spider Man sticky. Good choice bro!

Shucks, now you got ME all excited :hump:

Instead of replacing your fan, filter, ducting, while downgrading to a 4", you should pick up a fan speed controller fo $15 tops. It will allow you to adjust the fan speed which is good for two reasons. Regulating temperatures as the season change, as well as being able to keep the sound level down (if stealth is any concern). A dimmed 6" is super quiet,

Good luck
