Harvest & Curing First Harvest

Forgot to say pots are all well and good but its environment that's the biggest key to a nice plant... that's why i have done so well from the start (with a good bit of luck), I've spent a lot of time on that environment, way more than time spent on the plants them selves and I'm still tweaking... if you can keep that magic temp of 25c constant with lights on and a drop of about 3-5c with lights off your plants will love you... also I noticed on my last grow that during flower we had that heat wave so I had a battle in my loft garden but It went in my favor I think... I had read somewhere that a slight higher temp during flower will give a bigger yield but potency will not be as strong, vice verse slight lower temp better potency lower yield. I could be wrong on this but its worth playing with. I will be on my next grow.

I second this, dialing in the environment is often the last interesting part because you wanna play with your plants....but if you spend a bit of time on their surroundings it can make all the difference. For me the battle has always been to keep the temperature down enough, even though I run DIY COBs the temps can get too high, but I notice the difference between growing at 25 compared to 28, plants seem happier at 25.

I am gonna offer a bit of yin/yang balance here. I think the sweet spot is 26-28 degrees. For me personally. But I don't use extraction (passive only) so maybe that alters things. One thing I have noticed is that over 25 degrees and they start smelling a lot more. Which is a pain for me at 26-28 degrees as I have no filter lol.

I've noticed that too, the turps heighten at a higher temp from 25c... I think that sweet spot is really dependent on strain to strain, pheno to pheno. With my 2 jacks on my last grow, one loved it hot 28 to 32c, thrived (even the Gorilla Glue) wile the other really didn't like it one bit and showed it. She much preferred the lower temps of 24-27c, she complained if it went over 27c.

Yeah, they do smell at higher temps for sure, but weirdly enough I've noticed that plants I grew at higher temps, once cured, were never as strong smelling as ones grown at a lower temperature. Maybe some of the smell got burned off somehow? That's the thing with this growing, there's so much to play around with and learn!

Congratulate on the harvest dude thats worth a slap...:slap:

Yields will get better dude... time to work it out and tweak the grow, what size pot did you go with ?... bigger the pot bigger the plant in soil, I got near on 7oz off a plant in a standard 25ltr pot. I'm averaging about 3-4oz dry in my 10ltr air pots with soil... now I've go coco that should be way larger.
Thanks Slater, this grow I used 4, 15ltr and 2, 5ltr. The smaller pots were an after thought I didn't think all the seeds would germ, but they did! Since my space is small I have decided to run 6, 10ltr Air Pots on this next one. I also have an Autopot system that I want to try at some point but not sure when. I don't expect to get huge yields because my space is small but I thought I would get a bit more weight than I did. I will be trying LST and cropping this next time around as well, having fun learning as I go!

Ok, so we're back to the temp situation, I'm doing well to keep the temp at 29. This is an issue that I have no solution for since I can't really modify the grow space. I have picked up new fan and filter and will try to re-configure the tent to gain some height inside. I started off my grow with a Viparspectra light but changed to a 4 light COB setup which caused a slight increase in temp, I'm beginning to wonder if I should disconnect 2 of the lights - I've been told I shouldn't use the dimmer function but I need to try something to get the temp down to ~25.

nothing wrong with dimming, good way to control temps... I run my 5 x 1212 (1400ma) at about 60-75% and my other light (3x 1212 @1050ma) at about 70-80%. Saved my bacon dimming in resent heat wave and the fact I have a height restriction.
What size space you running @Arsenal ?

@Slater
Very small, .60m x .75m x 1.5m (2'x2.5'x5') running exhaust fan/filter, 2 small fans inside, portable humidifier, was running an intake fan but have quit because it seems to prevent the filter from operating properly.

Are you concerned that 29 is too high mate? I am definitely not a fan of dimming. Less light to the plants is not good in my book but just my opinion. I just don't get along with under using what cobs you have. May as well use the lot or get a smaller system.

I would favour training / supercropping rather than dimming if its height issues, and if its about heat I would try something else first. Like better circulation around the tent. You can make a massive difference to temp by air movement inside. I could adjust my temps by about 4 or 5 degrees just by moving the direction of fans.
