how far should i keep my 150 hps light away from my week old babies.
Probably @ 2 foot stoney.. Check temp at plant level with back of hand to judge and lower incrementally keeping an eye on leaves for signs of stress...![]()
If you can post a few pics and fill us in on soil, nutes, tent, extraction etc we can give you plenty of good advice bro...
100%OF soil, nothing else? Don't use any nutrients until Week 3. Depending on how soft your water is, invest in a cal-mag substitute and begin introducing that at Week 3 with your other nutrients. When you begin feeding in week 3, feed at 1/4 strength any nutrient you use. If you do not have a pH meter, I recommend pH Perfect one part trio.. do you know the quality of your water? Is it well or city? Is it RO?
Exhaust is an extraction to get the heat out of the tent, you want to move the air in the tent and exchange it so it's not stale, otherwise plant growth will slow up a bit. Even if you could just cut a hole and get a clip fan that sucks the air out and cut another hole at the bottom of the tent you'd be exchanging some air.
Keep the lights @ 18-24".. second set of leaves coming in, you should be fine with 18".. I have a 150W HPS running at the moment, the main thing you need to be careful of is the heat burning the tops of the plants. That's why Duggy recommends 2 feet to start. If you put your hand over the very top of the seedling and feel a considerable amount of heat, it's too close. As well, a clip fan possibly blowing up at the light would give you the ability to bring the light in closer. With three plants though in order to get the proper coverage you will have to sacrifice some of the potential of the light.
