First organic grow - blue automazar // afghan kush ryder

I'm definitely growing out of the cab that I have now because the bottom shelf is too short to store anything but spare lights, bulbs, etc. And the top shelf is all the stuff I take down most often and then the middle for storing the soil building supplies. I can't imagine this growing too much bigger, but I'm sure I won't need imagination for it forever ;-) Just out of curiosity why a hazmat locker?

I noticed a bit of a funky smell coming from the opening at the bottom of the pot of this little guy a few days ago, and today it was outright nauseating. I may have been able to save it, but I just couldn't take the smell so I tossed it and started a new one. I'm partially making this post because I've been horrible about marking when I start a seed, and also chronicling the issue. I had the idea of putting a screen material over the openings in the bottom of the pot to prevent the soil from running out when I water, and I think it may have kept the bottom of the pot a lot more wet than it should have been. From now on I won't be doing that, so it should be problem solved, this post will form the basis of testing that hypothesis, lol!!

In other news the BAM has finished drying and weighs in at a bit over a half ounce(16 grams). I'm not crazy about that of course, but then I cull anything below a certain point on the plant and call it trim so I probably could have been more conservative with trimming and squeaked out a bit more weight, but since it's just to tide me until the next harvest I'd rather have the best developed buds than have a bunch of variation. It's still a bit early to tell on total potency, or full effect but I can already tell it's a lot more stoney than the AKR is. The AKR is a much heavier experience whereas the BAM is a gentler stoney, happy mellow. Well, that's about all I have to add. I'll do an update this weekend sometime on the twins, but they're doing incredible, they're huge, and there are a lot of bud sites to fill out so I'm pretty excited to see this haul!! Have a good one folks!

That's odd, think you got root rot? I seem to think everything smells much much better in the tent after switching to organic for awhile, and using lots of mycorrhizae and probiotics. It's like the soil life just somehow cleans the air lol. But I'm using fabric pots too so it breathes alot different.

I think that the conditions were more favorable to anaerobic microbes so the good guys lost. I agree about the smell of organics though, it's like opening my tent to the forest.

well did you use a CT that was heavy and how is your drainage?I cant recall you using air pots? hmmm that could be a host of things actually.if you used no CT's or especially soup boosters will do that too.but if the bottom of the pot dont have stellar drain holes, that builds up a moldy issue amongh other quick forming issues too.But try leaning your pot after its well drained ,to its side about 15 degrees give er take a few.just to get that excess moisture outta there and/or a fan rollking medium at the base of your plants to push in air ESPECIALLY if you've just watered in the past 48 hours and your pots aint rooted out. lots of lil details about watering with a drained soil, heavy soil, type of pots n so on.how heavy your feed/booster is.all kinda of things.but if you just used water, same things apply for the most part.especially draining.hope that help give ya some ideas on how to dial yer stuff in next time..

It was definitely an issue of poor drainage because I corvered the drainage holes with a mess like you'd use to repair a screed door thinking it would help keep the soil from eroding out when I water. What I didn't bank on is that it might create a sort of negative pressure that prevented that slow trickle you get hours after watering. That combined with the fact that it was less than 2 weeks old so there just weren't any roots to take up that extra was a recipe for anaerobes. Such is life though man, live and learn and move on right? On a more positive note these Think Differents are so big I can barely get them in a frame. The one on the right is about a week+ further along in budding, but they're both looking healthy enough and they'll fill out I'm sure. The little dudes in the front here are unsexed MOB X Jack Herer X Stone Dragon. My plan is to tier any females and wait until that happens before planting anything else, other than the SD bean I restarted yesterday. Anyway, thanks for swinging through EoF, you pretty much got right to the heart of it with drainage. I don't do many teas to be honest, once or twice a grow really is about it, and only after flowering has started. I do use the Big Bloom though which is essentially a non aerated tea, and then I'll mix a couple of things into it like castings, with the calmag and some blackstrap.

Wanted to mention real quick the AKR. Now that it's had a couple weeks to cure up it has taken on some different properties. It's still really heavy but it feels like there are a few more angles to the effect if that makes any sense. It's still devastatingly strong for my tastes, but now it's not just a sledgehammer to the face, lol!!

TENT PIC(TD@40 Days)

yeah that comes with experience really.the best way to do that is put your dirt in and fill it half way then imagine you were just lightly poking warm dough if ya will.take your four finger on each hand n poke in a circle n tamp down your soil a little.lightly lighly too.but poke the soil down some then fill it the rest of the way up n repeat.then top it off and water in in slowly, but completely.and then let it drian out well and you'll get a small chunk er something here n there.but if your really worried about it stick a small piece of newspaper there prior to adding soil and that should help you maintain a lil more cleanliness and once the dirt is settle after a few days poke a hole(small one)in eacjhh of the newpaper areas that are covered and once its a lil dried out it'll lessen the dirt that falls out.after that your usually pretty good.well in my dealings.hope that helps bro. YUP! them TD's bro, they be monsters.in a TLO soil?pffft Id love to redo them gals if I had some LED or HID LOL! purty looking stuffs goin on bro!!

Those TDs are looking great Medi. When did they start flowering?

Good suggestions man thanks! And yeah dude 100% TLO with just the CAMG+ and some big bloom twice a week. I think one thing that has helped is that the soil had a good long compost period compared to what the AKR/BAM had, plus the addition of the blood/bone meals.

Those TDs are looking great Medi. When did they start flowering?

Hey Gman, thanks! I'm not sure of the exact day, but it was some time during the 4th week.
