Live Stoner Chat First Post - First Auto Grow

Greetings Farmer Friends! I have a few indoor and a few more outdoor grows under my belt, and have ordered NL-A seeds for my first auto grow experience indoors.

I'm doing something fairly risky by growing an auto (new experience) AND shifting fertilizer brands at the same time. I was out of my old familiar brand, and a buddy suggested an alternate line of nutes which I have the base and some bud enhancers. Lost of questions about nute strength, PPMs, supplements, etc. I grow in -OF soil.

I just joined so I'll be looking for a place to start an auto grow journal when the time comes. Does AFN commonly allow or encourage experienced growers to baby-sit newbies as in being a mentor(s) for us? I have some basic questions before I get to popping seeds, and hoped to get advice before I make mistakes.

I'd like to post all of my system and proposed grow details so folks can help me if it looks like I am headed down the wrong path. I've done really well with photos indoors, so I hope for the same success with my first auto attempt. Since photos take so long, I may stick with autos more in the future...esp if this trial grow is successful.

hi and @Stone420 and to autos we have an outdoor section and photoperiods to no mentors as such but plenty of experienced growers and more than a few pros start up a journal,keep posting and we will keep you pointed the right way

Sounds like this’ll be an exciting grow for you. What line of nutrients will you be using? Whatever you selected, I’m sure you’ll find lots of grows that use it here.

I’d start the journal in the New Growers section. Lots of the experienced growers frequent that section and look to help out where they can. It’d be a good spot to post what your plans are for the grow and get feedback before you’ve soaked a single seed. How you title the thread helps to get exposure too — don’t be like me and use the title “First Grow” — there are a thousand journals named that! — use something like “Stone420 grows NL-A in OF” or something like that.

By the way, what is NL-A?

This is my first Auto grow and the strain is Northern Lights (auto flower) which I call NL-A. Guess this is a pretty well known strain, and my seed source is ILGM since I have very little issue with my CC going thru and no shipping problems here in the US.

Good tips on a unique title for my new grow journal - I'll certainly make a creative name and tag you so we can share....I'll look forward to your input.

Tent is a 2x2 with a 135W QD LED light. Getting really awesome yields with this light. I also have a new 2x4 Gorilla tent and a 320 W QB LED, but going to do one final grow in the 2x2 before convering to a nursery.

Use OF soil amemded with Perlite. Seed starter is Light Warrior with 20% OF - no additional perlite in starter mix. I use Trio of nutes and Trio of Bud enhancers. HOWEVER - a grow buddy suggested I try Advanced Nutrients base nutes and bud enhancers along with Rhino Skin and Bud Candy. I bought small bottles to give AN a try with this grow, so its possible I may make the switch depending on the outcome.

Last indoor grow was a White Widow Photoperiod plant in my 2x2. I did very little canopy management other than tucking, but did lollypop for air circulation under the canopy. In the plant pictured I had a very nice yield of 7 ounces from this one plant in the small tent. I'm also starting my outdoor Sativa plants now, and plan 7 plants outdoors.

I love gummies & edibles and making MBO tinctures for vaping. I'll burn a bowl here and there, but enjoy the relaxing effect of a kick ass gummy after dinner. Sleep like a baby!

OmG she’s beautiful! Nice photo, very well done. Those buds look luscious. Here is a peek at my one of my girls now, I just spilled something on her yesterday, I think it was straight ph down by the looks of it.

Lots of people on site using fox farms and AN with good success. If you’re open for a change and located in the western hemi, look in to Greenleaf Nutrients Megacrop at some point, highly regarded on AFN and currently sending out free samples. I’m using them myself this grow along with other assorted sundries.
