New Grower First time grow - Think Different and Sweet Fast Bud #2 - questions

Hey guys, new to this forum and growing.

Just started growing with help from all you guys online 3 think different seeds and 4 sweet fast bud #2's. Right now they are all a like 3-6 inches tall (5-6 days in soil) about and looking nice with the first real leaves. I will upload some pictures soon. I just took them off the fluorescent bulbs I had them on for little seedlings and put them on the 600 watt hps about 2.5 or 3 ft above them. The soil is drying out really quick (within a few hours or so) and not staying moist all day with the HPS, unlike with the fluorescents. I wonder if it is because I am not watering it enough (i have been going around it with a water bottle making a nice circle of not too wet soil for the roots) or if it is the light. Could anyone give some help? Much appreciated friends.

Hey there Jah's! and welcome to AFN, theres plenty of knowledgable people on here.. I originally took an interest in your post because i have 2 think different seeds down myself, under a 600 watt HPS.
Looks like you have a very sweet set up! And some fantastic genetics, If your soil is drying quickly you might have you'r HPS light too close to your girls, how much are you watering your plants each and do you know your room temps?I am far from a pro but hopefully i can give you a few pointers, if not, I am sure someone on the forums will, there are plenty of growers with plenty experience.

Thanks for the quick reply guys The room stays constantly around 75-80 degrees. I'm not sure what the "proper" amount to water them at this stage is but ive just been watering all around the plant enough to make it moist around and a couple inches down I think. All six plants have leaves and are actually 2-3.5 inches tall, looking nice. (I'm going to try to get some pictures today.) The fluorescent bulbs I had them under never dried out the soil but I have the HPS a little over 2 1/2 ft. above the plants. Should I raise it a little higher?

Been out of town and without a camera for a while but here is an update on the plants (Just a phone camera. Hopefully I can get a better one to use soon.)

The first 3 are the Sweet Fast Bud #2 and the second 3 are the DP Think Different.

They were put in the soil on the 24th or 25th of December and are now under 600w hps. Its been almost exactly 2 weeks so i am going to start with some nutrients. I have (donated nicely from a friend) Earth Juice Grow/Bloom, TigerBloom, and BioThrive Grow/Bloom. Anyone have a recommendation on which to use?
