Here is what I tell anyone asking advice
When you read enough your brain hurts, walk away. (You did acquire a quality grow book right? No biggie if not)
Return with a clear head.
Get a notepad, write everything down from day 1, till harvest, this info you will look back on, and sometimes get asked. Or use an encrypted drive to store photos and notepad info on.
Take pictures of the grow throughout. First time grows are special.
Now if you happen live where mmj is not legal, be sure store any and all evidence of said grow, in a secluded spot.
When you do start growing, don't immediately panic should something look wrong, get solid advice.
Panicking and acting under duress will definitely be a bad choice.
When you post up for answer to a problem and no one seems to answer, and you are impatient, relax, have a smoke, clear your head, return looking for answer clear headed.
Always spend a bit of time in the room, make sure temps are correct for day night, double check, if not triple check everything is correct, from your meter calibrated to your ppm, to your timers, to filter working.
When you set the room up, do so in a matter anything electrical is away from water. USE gfi breakers. Don't skimp there, I don't want to read half a thread and wonder where you went.
Store all materials such as ferts neatly and sealed tight.
For soil grow---
Never over water
Want a fast way know if plant needs water? soil is light in color and feels dry.
Fast way tell if over watered?
Ladies forgive me for this one but ---- You stick your finger in the soil knuckle deep, and its wetter then your last date. Or worse, it smells like rot. A sure sign its to late.
When you dispose of anything related to room, do so in sealed bags, and definitely think of possible off site dumping, not roadside toss either.
