Hi guys, I am currently getting things set for my first grow. I've been lurking the forum for about a month now and joined today. My set up will be a 4x4x7 grow tent, an Apollo 600watt hps light, 1/2 and 1/2 Ocean forest on bottom, and happy frog on top. I will be using the farm fox trio, molasses (if I can figure out how to use with feed) for nutrients. I have smart pots to put my medium in. My seeds will be dinafem white widow, dinafem moby dick, cream of the crop cash crop..all autos and I'm gonna grow one strawberry blue photoperiod seed. I'm hoping my light and tent will fit these with 5 gal pots. Maybe this setup won't be a disaster, any input would be great. Thank you all for reading.

Sounds good!

You may want to wait on growing the freebie Strawberry Blue....since it's a photo it'll monkey with your light schedule down the road (maybe as it relates to starting the next batch of autos)
unless you have a different game plan for flowering.

My advice...(worth what you paid for it)

-throw some extra perlite in that soil mix
-throw some Great White mycos in that soil mix
-Get some Cal/Mag for further along in the grow to replace Molasses regimen (I'll personally replace molasses with Cal/Mag around week 4)
-With that soil, first 2 weeks - no nutes

And hey......WELCOME! You'll love it here, nowhere else to be for advice and support! and friendship :)

If ya wanna know what happens if u have a photo with ur autos and the autos end up going 140 days and then u switch ur photo over check by my thread, i had a blackjack seed that turned out to be a photo strain and the thing is huge now . . . Only 10 say till harvest now lol

As I have no practical knowledge on indoor growing (or growing in general for that matter), I'll just wish you all the best. You're in good hands here!

Oh, yeah and welcome :)

Hey Tigra, I used FFOF from seed and it seems to working out well, I'm sure you know the happy frog adds microbes(not sure which, and a lighter blend of organic nutrients. I hadn't thought of doing it top/bottom, but that's a really clever idea, that way by the time the root system reaches down, it's ready for the higher nutrient values. I agree with Trapper though that you should consider adding some perlite for aeration. I'll be watching both your white widow and your cash crop closely as they're both on my list for future grows. Good luck!!

Yeah, I thought that too (about the layer cake) initially, but I wonder if the nutes in the FFOF are all but washed away with watering by the time the roots get there...IDK.

That's possible I suppose. My girls are looking really healthy now in FFOF, but I might try mixing the two at 1/1/1 with perlite being the last third.

Welcome to the family man. Looks like you got the potential to yield a killer harvest. All those auto's sound like good ones.

Dont forget to check you temps before you plant your seeds. I made that mistake my first grow.
