Good Morning AFN!!

First time grower here and doing great thanks to all the help from you kind vets =]. I was growing two strains Blue Mammoth - Barney's seeds, and Devil Cream - Sweet Seeds. The blue Mammoth is doing great, but the Devil Cream is quite the recent strain and i am under the impression that there are some major genetic deficiencies. I would recommend it. Though on the bright side, I'm probably a week or so away from harvest now, with 80-90% brown pistols. The flush has begun!! Of anyone has some great drying and curing tips I would love to hear some! I will personally be starting with a simple hang dry, and glass jar cure. Seems to be the best option so far. Thanks for the input!

Welcome t`AFN mate :toke: Congrats on getting through t`harvest! Hanging and jar is fine(I use the paper bag method m`self, but whatever you`re comfortable with tbh.) I recommend some boveda packs for the jar though...Very useful (oh, and a cheap digi humidity meter!) All the best! :pass:

Step ahead of yah on the humidity meter =P. I read about the paper bag method but what I read didn't get into much description, any tips or tricks for that one? I wanna get the best flavor I can out of these girls =]

I found I have more control on the drying process. I don`t have a dedicated dry room so use paper bags and shoe boxes (with plenty of air holes punched in `em), then drop my humidity meter in the box with the bags, open and check/turn the buds (trimmed to no larger than golf balls) and after 5-7 days(depending on humidity levels), I start jarring them (with humidity meter). Normally have to leave jars open perioidcally over the first couple of three days (while monitoring humidity levels), once 65%ish achieved, drop boveda pack(I use 62%) and keep checking, periodically. Mistakes while drying can occur, but as long as they are caught quick enough, then a good cure (for me boveda is a must!) should still be achievable imho. Important not to Overdry though! There are some good threads/comments on drying/curing on here. I`m also sure some others will do it differently, hence you`ve gotta find what`s right for you situation/enviroment...:peace: :pass:

The dry/cure makes such a difference on the final product's smell and taste and bag appeal. There are some good threads on drying. The biggest mistake I've seen is drying too much before placing buds into the jar. It would be better to need them to be placed back on the line for a day or two, then have them over dried. Once over dried, you're kinda screwed. Boveda 65 packs might help bring back some over-dried buds, but.....
Once jarred, take your time and slowlyyyyyy bring down the humidity, to keep that tasty smell. You might want to order Mason Jar hygrometer lids from Amazon and others. I just did. They are very convenient.
Good luck!

That cheeky chicken ! Forget the fowl, come to penguin.

On my very first grow, the dry/curing process was the one area that concerned me the most. But, it is actually the easiest. Just use common sense and you will be fine. Check on the jars twice daily. If they seem wet, put them on a plate for an hour. Do the burping thing and you will be on a winner. Promise.

Welcome chum, eP.

Beauty plants!! I actually just took down a Sweet seeds dark devil and am 5-6 weeks out from taking a blue mammoth!
