Hey AFN,

I'm debating on what soil to get. my plan was to get Promix HP but then i came across Fox Farm organic soil. I was wondering if anyone has experience with this soil. It seems like Fox Farm organic soil is almost like supersoil??:Brain Fog..:

I use Fox Farm all the time. It is NOT like supersoil. It has No chemicals in it, and it is Organic. I mix the happy frog with the ocean forest for a base soil. I add my own amendments.

Some people like the Fox Farm because it can make your product more of a fruity taste, Some soils like Roots Organic can give you a more floral flavor/smell.

This is my opinion only

I completely concur with MasterEek, Foxfarm is Organic, but it comes no where close to being a Supersoil in and of itself.
Here is a link to Super Soil recipes TLO/Super Soil recipes
Compare the ingredients in these recipes with the ingredients in the Fox Farm product/s that you are looking at.

Like Eek, I too use FoxFarm soil though. I use the FF Happy Frog for starting all of my seeds in, and clones after they have rooted. and then transplant into actual TLO supersoil.

Hope we were able to help this time, and we are always here to help in anyway we can.

Peace.

Spot on advice from Mastertek and Stickman. I like Happy Frog with a cup of worm castings per gallon as a seedling mix. Do yourself a favor and acquire a means of testing pH if you haven't already. Best of luck to you.

thanks bros!! I think I'm going to go with ffof keep it nice and simple. I got a Chemdawg Auto first grow journal coming very soon. till then"AFN smoke out"

Hey Stickman, There is a Brand of soil sold out here called "supersoil" , it is much like Miracle Grow in it's contents. Feeds (chemically) for Up To Six Months

Green Spyda, Ocean Forest cannot be used on sprouts or seeds. They need to be in about week 3 if veg before they can handle a "hot" soil like Ocean Forest.

You need to layer your soil so they have less nutrients in the beginning. I would advise a top layer of Happy Frog, then a mixed layer of both Happy Frog and Ocean Forest, and then the ocean forest.

The Super Soil Recipe that Stickman is referring to is an organically amended soil where many things are added. like calcium, bat guano's, magnesium, trace elements, worm castings. I would suggest looking at Subcool's super soil.

Here is the link: Subcool's Super Soil Link

See if you can get that sort of thing together. It also mentions the layering and other stuff you can use as info.

hey Eek,

So should I put ocean forest 1/4 of the way of my 3 gallon smart pot and the rest with happy frog, then maybe week 4 top with ocean forest?

I was completely unaware that someone was actually marketing a Mg like product named Supersoil, but doesn't surprise me either.

Thanks for the heads up brother Eek.

You know I did that my first grow, and it turned out alright, That would make it simpler. You also are gonna need nutrrients at some point. If cash is an issue, you can get the cheaper ones, but if it is not. you can get some real good ones as well. Depends on you.

After you do some more reading in the Organic's section, you will see that you will end up needing more, and you wil WANT more, because you want to treat your girls the best that you can in order for them to return the favor.

Peace
