Old Reviews Fox Farms bad soil. Watch out.

I can't imagine will let this go on for very long, being a big staple of their business line. It's really the best pre-mixed commercial soil around here for auto growing IMO.

you wouldn't think! but my first problems started back in nov 2010... and if they are still having ANY issues, my grow and meds and food are not worth losing for a highly overpriced soil... $30+ dollars a for 32 quarts i thkn? a bag here!!!!!! I get 3.5 Cu FT COMPRESSED promix equals easily 4 bags of theirs... never had ONE issue with it in the 1.5 years ive used it EXCLUSEIVLY and its cotst $35 a bale here... sp 4 times as much, no insects, dont have to worry about overfert on sativas and such (autos seeds)... for me the math is easy... and I use their nutes but am looking to drop them too as they are climbing in price rapidly... if i find out theres ANY truth to a sell-out... you can bet your ass I'll rip them a new whole on the net... monsanto can go f@ck a goat! thats my rant / rave for now...



oh yeah, and when i had those issues with OF... it wiped out my expensive seed stock as all my starts died from the gnats and other issues... so they can kiss my green thumb and suck on my calyx till THC oozes down their throat...

Thanks for the clear up Andy, glad to know they're still their own company. From what I've read up on fox farms they don't have just one mixing facility, they contract out regionally to different mixing centers who then bag it and sell it in that area under the fox farms name. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Light warrior and Ocean Forest(heavily amended) have always worked great for me but happy frog is a fucking dud. Compacts to a brick in no time and wildly fluctuating ph.

I'm ready to try pro mix or sunshine mix this time.

Hey just like I said I only know what he told me. What I also know is that a freind of over 20 years did get root aphids from Ocean Forrest as well a few months ago. So knowing his case and what happened at Garden Indoors today I figured I would let others know to watch for it. I also said better safe then sorry. I don't use anymore but I did in the past. I always liked there soil. But I know he got root aphids and I know Gardne Indoors doesn't carry it. Take it upon yourself to call garden indoors if you'd like and ask them if they carry soil and why. I hate Liars and thieves and I'm not either. I would never go out of my way to say something like that if it wasn't legitimately told to me from a business owner/friend and another friend who had a personal experience.

Yea like I Said in the earlier post as well. I said the main hub I'm Cali Is fine from what I heard but another plant where it was left outdoors is where it got infested. He just isn't taking any chances.

Too bad about the bug issues... I know for many, buying their soil will be too big of a risk to take after they've spent their money on expensive beans. Hopefully they get their issues dealt with and can bounce back to recapture some of the market, as I do think they're a good company with their hearts in the right place.

:smokebuds: I hear that. I believe it's one of the other places they're having it packaged at is my understanding. I've Also heard both sides of the buy out rumor. They're saying it didn't happen others are saying it did but that wasn't the point. The point was they aquired root aphids at a newer packaging facility and that Is 100% fact. People need to read all post before posting themselves. I'm not a 16 year old kid growing 2 micros in my computer tower. My family's been growing
The gift for over 40 years and we have a lot of friends in the business. Of course I'm going to say my buddy that owns garden indoors. Not going to say his name just like I'm not going to say mine. But say his is John. We have known John for years and he is one of the most knowledgable people I know. They got root aphids and that's fact. We close the store and chat for hours about new systems, new lights and nute
Lines. This was a product of conversation over why he wasn't carrying soil anymore. His word is gold. If he told me it was going to rain crap tomorrow I'm not leaving the house without a poncho and rubber boots.

I've used Fox Farm exclusively to date. I have never had any type of issue whatsoever and I'm in an area that is serviced by the East Coast facility. I've restored it with the Happy Frog soil restorer and re-used it with excellent results. Having said that, I am not prone to listen to internet rumors but, I have seen too many posts by too many credible members/growers that have had problems ranging from slight pH issues to devastation of a grow. I guess I've been lucky.

I just used all my OF and have been planning on going in another direction anyway. If I still had some on hand, I would use it... but, that's me.

I did read all of your posts before I posted myself. I never called into question how long you've been growing or anything of the sort. But this is a discussion forum and I have a right to comment here just like you do. I specifically said that I wasn't commenting on the aphid issue, but rather providing some clarification of the buyout which has no basis in fact from all I've been able to find out. As for your friend, I'm sure that pulling will cost him some business so no doubt he's doing what he thinks is right & more power to him for it. I just pointed out that my local store has been around for decades and is highly trusted also, and they haven't pulled the soils. That's a fact and I only mentioned it so someone didn't half read this thread and then go around repeating that all legit hydro stores were pulling the product so nobody should buy it. While I was posting you did add the clarification about this perhaps being localized to your area, and that was helpful IMO. I know that many others here have long-time relationships with their local shops, so maybe we'll hear some more comments in this thread to see if it's a more widespread problem.
