Franks new thread

At the risk of alienating, or just pissing off others, I'll say it again......compost! ........
Growing good plants with a lot less work and expense. Sure, my yields may not be as heavy as a grower with my experience should be getting, got to factor in environment here. My goal, the healthiest plants with the strongest possible dope and the most meds! My environment is so challenging that if i'm messing with stuff during the grow I'm going backwards, big time.
That avatar, I guess I can't be calling you grasshopper, damn, you eat that one:vibe:
:goauto:...who said dat?! :haha:
I'm sitting right next to you in that choir my brudda :jointman: I luxuriate in the lack of fuss and bother with mineral nutes x10 different bottles/bags, and pH'ing, ppm'ing... The goal was for me at least was KISS and time saved (50 hour work weeks mandated that!), and it's worked out well enough that I've stayed the course. It's a learning curve, to be sure (like everything else), and I'ma still climbin' but the slope is flattening out... :rolleyes2:

GLN is thinking the same thing generally though, one thing I really like about them. I dig that they include many of the supp's that I find make a real difference... They aren't playing that greedy fuckery game by splitting things so much that one ends up buying 10+/- different products between base nutes and supp's. I get that in some instances that sort of gig is perfect for those who really want to tinker and dial-in, get ultimate flexibility in nutrient uses to blow plants up... But as you say, you/we are not concerned about yield...
And in your case, it's the razors edge every year, and a long worked and established MO that allows you to grow in what I consider single digit top percentile challenging conditions... Jedi indeed!

Grasshopper.... you mean grass-smokah!

Have you gone rummy trying to sample every thing? I'm starting to recover from that scenario, can even breathe again:crying::rofl::shrug:
Verily! 😵‍💫😵😵‍💫🫨🥴😴 :crying: ... All told there are about 18 different cultivars+pheno' variants to "test and verify"
The cure stage is really the big one, after I take early post-drying test tokes. Most everything changes for the better, potency and aroma that is, (should say everything really),...it's usually fun to see where a cultivars ends up and stabilizes. But yes, the word saturated comes to mind, and it's not the plus it sounds like -LOL... hard to analyze individuals, until I have a chance to test toke 1 culti' different times/circumstances w/o any others muddying the effectual waters... 1st world prob's, hey?

There have been some significant aroma shifts, a WTF level one in the MoB/OGK x C99a (again, that's 2/2 with this girl and totally different)...
This girl finished live with a definite berry + menthol/mint, held that for a couple weeks dry... I didn't sample her for about 2 weeks, as there's only so much chance to smoke test and so many others... Then I got back to her, opened the jar and knew immediately that it had shifted majorly! I thought I had mislabeled the jar :confused1: LOL .... out comes a bud and and pinch,...!!... WTF in a good way :cool1: A fuelly/piney/citrus peel (calamansi lime?) greeted my nose, if the berry is there it's buried; menthol/mint peeping ever-so softly from the corner...

This pheno was utterly different from that last MOGK99a across the board, but the same aromatic chameleon act went down. That time the berry-kushy smell stuck around for several months. The one day, again after not smoking her for a while, I was delighted and flabbergasted to smell a distinct chocolate twist had developed, honest berry choco' aroma! ...never had the like before or since...

utterly different
When they ask, "what does it smell like", contrary replies...on what day?
saturated
And then it's double trouble when I have to test vape and smoke for each strain, and still remember the survival chores that need to be done...

You ever press any rosin? I was pressing nine days after harvest, after a trip through the cannatrol. For several weeks or longer after pressing, you can see (some strains) go through visual changes…it’ll offgas and bubble up, change color, consistency…and aroma changes… pretty interesting.

I lack the gear for rosins... plus I feel it'll be just too damn strong for me these days :rolleyes2: ... seems too much just knocks me out and makes my head feel wool-stuffed, if that makes sense... 😵‍💫 LOL

The changes you see makes sense to me. I have no idea exactly what's going on with such changes, but some interesting chemistry is going down!
I figure some of it is variable volatility of the terp's; some gas off, others linger... chem' changes maybe too, subtle side-groups swaps and such...
Anything like that alters the aroma, and many terp's have isomers that are a little to a lot different in aroma to each other. Olfactory perception chemistry is a wonder!
So, between individual terpene chem'/aroma changes and gassing off, the mix ratio's are shifting too; I think it's also combos of them that often make up a particular aroma... how they interact/blend to create a particular aroma...
We experience this all the time on one level, between "jar smell" vs. broken up (blended+full release)...

The Karma Sour x NL big girl from this year has a peculiar funk to her in-jar, but once chopped up it's gone or overwhelmed by the fuelly-citrus element.
A long time ago I had a Wild Thai Ryder that had a barfy smell in the jar, but only there; broken up she was all exotic woods/incense/floral... Room smoke smell was just exceptional! ...haven't the like before or since, alas... a rare pheno in hindsight!
