Harvest & Curing Freeze Drying: Perfect cure!

Yeah I agree. I been freezing weed for years to preserve thc among others.

Dyu know if using a frost free freezer mat in a normal freezer would work bro?

I'm wondering, would this be OK to do with freshly harvested buds? I've only dried them for a day (hanging), would it mess them up if I threw them into bags and into the freezer?

Messing them up? No but I really do not know about the taste afterwards
I do not think OK for taste because with Dry Ice, in my experience when friend makes, it gives me always that minty taste I do not like it...

try to dry 4 days at least,

Good luck,

Peace!

Nice thread, tokaite! :High 5:
Looks like I'll be chopping the last of my Fast Haze today, and will give this a shot. Most of her buds are in jars right now, it'll be interesting to taste the difference between jar cure and freeze drying from the same plant!
+ reps for putting in the leg-work! :Cushty:
Questions: how critical is the -20c temp, and should I worry about RH at such a low temp?

High!

Thanks for the Rep :smokebuds:, appreciated.

Glad you gonna give it a try... let me know what you think :booya:

I prefer -20c, even after 10 days, you will notice the buds are still "softly moisturized", after few minutes out of fridge (manipulate gently at that stage).
As for the RH, it is the beauty of it.....it does not matter :), you need frost free freezer (cz warm hot air fan automatically on / off ) and your set.

After 10 days, I like to jar it and keep it open for half an hour (RH will be 58%, got always that RH level) then 1 day there, keeping check then in fridge with Boveda pack (62%) and that about it.....

Now, I would like to push even further maybe you have a clue of that one:

To make it even smoother, something like "water curing" but quicker, like put plant in plain water for pre-wash bucket (30 seconds)r, then put plant in 1 cup fresh lemon juice and 1 cup of baking soda and in ( 20 l / bucket) for same time or not?
Then rinse again in water, then normal drying ( it is very quick that way, just a day) / I used to water cure for stealth smoke (works nice) and then freezer again. Not sure if needed the freezer part again, could be perfect with people with very High RH and cannot dry safely.
It should make it even smoother

What do you think?

Peace!

high!
Am not sure to understand well your question.
Either way, you need a frost free freezer.
The idea is that you do not have ice formation on the buds, the frost free freezer to do that blow some hot air (to an extend) and ventilate then freeze again etc...(quickly summarized)
Bottom line, you want that air circulation.

Hope it help, if not ask again

peace!

I wish I could give an opinion on that, but I'm way too new to all this! :tiphat:
This is my first effort at curing.
Will lemon juice give some added flavor to the final result?

No at all, quickly said it is for cleaning.....along with the baking soda :)
Thinking of that cleansing because of the water-curing process.
Just to give you an idea, check "water-curing"....

You cut your plant, trim out buds etc..... then you put everything in water (i use 20 l) buckets (not cold water but room temp+ (mine 24-26c) and you keep them under water (important or rotting) for exactly 7 days (tried more and less, 7 is sweet) and you change everyday the water....
The water will turn brown, green...after 7 days it is clear.
Then you keep for drying, careful dries super-fast (1 day) then jar.

Why doing so?:

1. Stealth, you can smoke and no weed smell at all but you have to mix it with tobacco because it has a smell. People might just be attracted like, oh what are you smoking? but no because of MJ smell.
2. Super smooth ++
3. Super clean.

If you were to fuck-up one of your grow and could not flush your weed (or if you buy crappy one on the street, you could clean like that )
you could just do water curing and hop your weed is saved!
Cleans ferts

Peace!
