Some other brands have you going down on nutes as the flush gets near. I've been told by a guy in another thread that this helps convert energy to the buds swelling rather than processing sugars.

What;s true? and what;s the thinking in the Mega camp?

I'm at around 800-900 ppm with mega right now in week 7, I have added dry Kool Bloom as well, total ppm 1000

Should I be thinking about coming down before my flush?

Our weeds need surprisingly small amounts of nutes.
1000 ppm would fry my hydro plants.
It's possible to grow huge plants without ever going above 350 ppm.
They are happier than when over feeding, and need no flush.
Most of the suspected nute deficiencies, that might really be element lockouts caused by over feeding, are then avoided.

If I were at 1000 ppm right now, I'd make sure it was below 200 by harvest.
Maybe this should be called a flush, but I prefer calling it "not over-feeding."

Just to clarify a little hes not feeding 1000ppm nutes. That 8-900ppm of megacrop contains a lot of other things not npk or micro related. Its probably closer to 5-600 ppm total npk+micros

I don’t flush, I feed my plants accordingly, up to the end , if they look hungry I feed them. @pop22 showed me the error of my ways a long time ago. I have backed off the MC on this grow, but only because this strain actually needed less during flower. For the very last day, I usually put the girls on pure rain water and give them an extended dark period right before harvesting them. Doesn’t matter which nutes im using I don’t starve my plants before chopping them down.

I'm going to a private smokefest next weekend. I'm bringing some of my Blue Dragon, some grown with Megacrop and not "flushed" and some grown organic. I'll be doing my $100 challenge to prove you can't tell the difference. I've not lost yet! WAIT WAIT!!! I can here it now................ " But I can tell" ..... and to all who say that I say, bring your money..........

:cheers::smoking:

Most people are finding 600 to 700ppm max is the sweet spot for Megacrop. And all that extra crap not needed. I'd listen to a company that tells you at least 10 times on their webpage: You Don't Need anything else!

No flushing does NOTHING but starve you plant and as its dying from this, guess where all those nutes go? TO the buds! A flush would only work by continuing until the plant was stone cold dead! Don't waste you time, nothing that's claimed to be a benefit is trueof flushing is a myth.

Greenleaf Nutrients has an in depth thread on RIU, people interested should check it out.

Just to clarify, I'm not feeding any more than is specified on the Mega webpage schedule. My water is 125 ppm, with Mega ppm in that water are about 800-900. Dry Kool Bloom pushed it up to or over 1000. my ppm is higher than Greenleaf states it should be at the recommended levels. I don't know why that is, it's just what my meter reads

The plants show no sign of having a problem with this level. The buds are fattening well.

The Mega Schedule also calls for a 2 week flush at the end of the grow. I believe I will flush only because in testing buds from my last grow prior to flush the taste was awful and harsh, I understand they were not fully ripe or cured. after a short flush and curing those buds were flavorful and smooth.

My original question was about lessening nutes prior to a flush period, regardless of an actual flush, ie, at the end of the grow for a number of weeks....going down on the nutes. I understand the viewpoint of less nutrient in general over the course of the grow, although i have not gone that way this grow

Also, regarding the ppm differences with my mix and Mega's ppm calculator,

mixing up food for my 3 plants, 1.5 gallons and adding 8.75 grams, Mega tells my I should be at 530 ppm. I'm actually hundreds above that even when taking into account my water ppm. so for me to get nearer the lower ppm I would need to go back to the Veg area of the schedule.

perhaps I'll do that to get ppm down to around 500-600 for the rest of the grow, Kool Bloom on top of that
