I have a few 2 week old auto going. I also seem to have fungus nats to some degree. I already have paper hanging in tent. how can I get rid of these fuckers and are my plants screwed now?

The gnats actually do nothing except lay eggs. It's the young ones that can eat into the root system but that is when it gets really bad. I had a few hanging around and sprayed a mix of :

ltr water
1tbs olive oil
1bsp dish soap
1/2 tbsp hot sauce
1tbs white wine vinegar

You can put this through your soil or what I did was spray the surface and the sides of the pot (I use airpots) and this got rid of them. They will probably come back, mine do sometimes but I just spray and pray lol.

Hope that helps some,

Remain calm dear brother, the plants will be fine :) actually those gnats are mostly just annoying. It's a pest cuz they're annoying and can be hard to dispel, but I'll tell ya what fixed it for me and they haven't returned :) the main, all-natual solution is Neem. Yeah that sounds like a toxic chemical but it's simply any product of the Neem tree from India. I got some Neem Cake which is like little crunchy bits of Neem leftover after the oil is extracted from it. Got it from neemresource.com and mix some in with the soil, also sprinkle some on the topsoil too. Also, you can get Neem oil from Home Depot, or Lowes, or like a garden nursery center or whatever. This Neem oil is helpful for all kinds of pests. For the gnats, put some in a little sprayer, with about 2/3 water, 1/3 Neem oil, and a drop of soap to help it spray and absorb better :) Spray around the topsoil pretty good. If you do one or both of these things, the gnats will dwindle down over a couple weeks and be gone for a long time. The neem does stink a little, but the smell dissipates in a few days.

Edit: btw the Neem is considered all natural, organic, and would be considered vegan. Just fyi if you're like me against harsh chemicals haha

if you cant get neem use basic sand cover the top of the soil with a 1cm layer and the adults will not lay eggs on it they will then soon die out :d5:

Most probably you water too much. If you let the surface get dry a little bit with less watering, they can not survive in dry soil.

Are you sure you deal with fungus gnats? Maybe just fruit flies or aphids? Then you need different approach.

they honestly could be fruit flies. Kids left some bananas out to long a month ago. I have only watered once so its not over watering.

I can not tell which variety I deal with by seeing one around, but:

Fruit flies mostly fly around rotten fruits and vegetables, if any around. I see them around that kind of stuff, rarely around plants. I have not experienced any harm and have not read about negative effects.

Fungus gnats go for wet soil and lay eggs in it. I thing I had their visit once some time ago, flies were mostly interested in soil area. Wet, of course. very wet.

Aphids are more tough and I have been fighting with them for some time. I spray plants when I see one, very short push to the button and mist lays down on plant, all animals are killed in a second or two. Despite all care, control and immediate action, I still see one or two occasionally. Aphids do nothing serious in small quantities, and can be very, very annoying if they get out of control. But luckilly, as Waira says, theyare slow movers.

Aphids are in form of flies and little animals, 0,5 mm long, which can not fly yet and eat and shit around leaves. They target young plants. At the beginning, I thought they were little stains on leaves, and then one of these stains moved.

Or maybe you have got something else around. Whatever it is and no matter how unharmfull, you had better get rid of them, if possible.

Good luck
