Lighting GE Lucagrow 600W HPS running too hot

I got this GE Lucagrow 600W HPS to replace a growlush that went out on me. It runs too damn hot at 24 inches off the top of the plant and I can't keep consistent temps. Do I just need to move the light up higher like 36 inches?

I'm thinking of upgrading to LED soon so I don't have to run fans and AC to control temps. It'll save on Leccy in the long run.

Good morning Smeg! Can you fill us in on a few more details on your setup? We'll get you set up right bro!

1. How big is your grow space?

2. What are you using for intake/extraction fans?

3. Are the temperatures themselves getting too hot? What are you temps? What's the HIGH and what's the LOW?

4. Are you seeing heat stress on your plants? What makes you think it's too hot for your plants at 2 feet above them?

5. Are you using any circulation/oscillating fans inside the tent that's blowing on the plants?

6. How is your 600W setup? Is it an open air reflector? Is a vented hood? Does it have duct openings? What size? Do you have duct hooked up to it with an inline fan?

If you're noticing heat stress on your plants (leaf tips curling up at tips at the top of the plant, drying out or crisping leaves, etc,) then yes move the lights up a bit. If the temperatures in the tent are just too hot; then you need better extraction to remove hot air from the grow space.

If we knew some of these other variables it would be a lot easier to make a recommendation. Can I talk you into some pictures of the grow space? A picture is worth a thousand words!

1. How big is your grow space? 1m x 1m x 2m tent Here is the setup:

2. What are you using for intake/extraction fans? Can Fan as you can see above the Carbon filter in the lower right hand corner

3. Are the temperatures themselves getting too hot? What are you temps? What's the HIGH and what's the LOW? I can dial it into 77F/25C but the max has gotten up to 90f/33c.

4. Are you seeing heat stress on your plants? What makes you think it's too hot for your plants at 2 feet above them? One of the plants wilted down badly, the unstressed plant stayed ok.

5. Are you using any circulation/oscillating fans inside the tent that's blowing on the plants?
I have a portable Aircon blowing into the tent whenever the lights are on

6. How is your 600W setup? Is it an open air reflector? Is a vented hood? Does it have duct openings? What size? Do you have duct hooked up to it with an inline fan? It's in an Xtracool tube, 6 inch ducts, one pushing from the CF thru the tube and out the left side exhaust, down and out of the tent.

Should I just go LED and how many WATTS and what model would be best suited for this tent size and maximum of 4 plants?
