Hello all, I have a quick question concerning the PPM of my nutes. I am using General Hydrponics Flora Grow, Flora Micro, and Flora Bloom. I check my water for PH and PPM before I mix my nutes and my PPM never even shows on my EC meter. After I mix my nutes according to the chart my PPM should be around 500, but it always climbs up to around 1600. How can I mix by the chart and achieve the PPM that is recommended on the GH feeding chart? Thanks for any response.

Hi Dt, and welcome to afn! :) You came to the right place to get some help, there should be an expert coming to help you, so sit tight, try to post a bit more info, like if you filter the water, the kind of meter your using.it prolly wouldn't hurt to list type of soil, and even the strain. i say this not to be ignorant, but the more info you give the quicker the mod can give yah some suggestions.
I Use RO water and even that will show on my meter..its something like 7 ppm or so before my nutes. im not an auto expert, but i would have to say 1600 might be a bit much for your autos, so feed light till someone can help. Peace
:smokebuds:

What concentrations are you mixing? How much nutes in how much water? Need some info about your water source, where it's from, etc. Starting pH? Final pH?

Hey Dt, first of all styles rasta to AFN! From the sounds of it you may need to calibrate your meter. Do you have the calibration liquids?

Hello again. I have a Blue Truncheon EC meter. I use tap water that is at 6.1 PH in the beginning. My EC meter only starts at 100 PPM so if my water is below that then I wouldn't see it, but below 100 shouldn't account for 1600 PPM. As far as calibration, I'm not sure of the process for the EC. I have my calibration liquids for my PH meter(4.0 and 7.0) and I use two meters to double check my PH before and after. I will try to find a link for my EC meter and post that. I got it used so calibration could easily be needed. I didn't get a manual with it.

The soil that I am using is Fox Farms Happy Frog. Thanks for all of your replays.

Aloha the calibration liquid you have 4.0 and 7.0 is for ph calibration try to get ahold of some 1500ppm calibration liquid. as far as ppm go seed to sprout 5.5 ph 0.65Ms-1.50 ms 250PPM max early starters no more then 400PPM max @ 5.5-6.0ph clones to mid 800PPM 5.5Ph early flower 5.0PH no more then 1100PPM mid flower 5.5-6.0 Ph 1200PPM MAX then flush last two weeks hope this helps here's a link you can read through for a future read take it easy. Sorry about the delay Dt, man if I don't get back with you in a post just shoot me a pm. I reply to a lot of people on here and it is impossible to keep up with them all.

To your problem, the link says no calibration needed. That isn't good. Find yourself some calibration liquids, preferably two different levels, like a 300 and 1500. Check your meter against both of those. If it reads out on either one then you are gonna need a new meter.

^this try to change the batt and then do a master reset then calibrate; also in most cases people leave the sensor dry and over time it'll crack so try to leave some solution 1500 or 300 in that sponge other wise your gonna end up having to buy new meters every other month or end up with a meter that jus doesnt read properly Aloha.
