The Plan:
Strain: 'Auto #1' (low odor, fast, decent yield). Unless someone can point me to a psychoactive strain (low/not MJ odor, fast'ish). If stars were align and there was time I'd be growing 'Inca Spirit'
Medium & nutes: Canna Coco in 5L Hempy Buckets. Canna Coco A+B.
Lights: 4 x 50W 2700K CFLs
Odor control: For the last weeks of budding odor removal pillows and spray. Said to work on animal markings, urine, diesel oil... Apartment can have hints of grow, not the hallway.
Goal: To harvest at least 3/5 plants in 60-70 days.
The Question:
As title suggests I'm having doubts of the most fragile state, the seed. In my mind I have 2 options: rockwool cubes or plant straight to coco, final 5L bucket.
Rockwool:
- Get 4cmx4cm cubes and soak them in 5,5 pH water for 24 hrs
- Squeeze them (how?) dry/take out the excess water
- Plant the seed pointy tip down. (Some site said planting sideways was the way to go, for optimal development of roots...)
- Place the seeded cube in plastic container and
a) dip in water for 5 secs when getting dry or
b) place 1 cm rez of water on the bottom and the cube sucks itself
- Cover with plastic wrap with holes in it for air circulation in a dark, not cold, place until sprout.
Coco:
- Water the coco with 6 pH water until run out from the hole
- Plant the seed, keep the surface moist until sprout.
Now that I wrote it planting straight to coco seems simpler. But from what I read people have drown their seeds because coco's ability to hold water. On the other hand it is possible to drown them in rockwool in fear of dry out, too.
Any feedback from all of the above is appreciated
