well when I watered my 15 day old ww this morning back in the corner of the pot where a little water puddled up I seen a bunch of little white maggot squiggly lookin shitters.well the plant still looks ok but I bet its just a matter of time.my ? is I lookin everywhere bout how much hydrogen peroxide to mix ive heard 1 part to 4 part, all the way to 2.5ml gallon.well that is such a broad stretch that I thought id ask u guys what u thought and if this is even the preferred method, hit me up with ur ideas.

Have you seen any gnats flying around the plants? If they are fungus gnats they like to lay their eggs in the top layer of soil. Hanging some fly paper will help to catch the fliers. Some neem oil should take care of the maggots. Letting the top layer of soil dry out helps. I always clean up the lower part of my plants so the soil dries out as the gnats like that dampness for their eggs. You can also add about a 1/4" layer of sand on top of your soil. That will prevent them from laying their eggs.

will the sand on top be alright to just water into the soil then place another 1/4 sand and so on and on.or will the sand interfere with the drainage of the soil.any help would be cool ,thanks

I myself have only had to use my sandy mix that I use a few times.i just watered it as usual.Fed or not it dont matter I think. And then top coated it with sand and waited for a week n got most of it off n turned the rest into the soil when I fluffed it.It'll slows the drying of your pot some so it should be fine.Water it first n coat it imo.hope all's well buddy!Ya got a fair enough amount of perlite?so shouldnt mess with the breathing of yer roots much.be good.

If ya see a Gnat while ya got yer sand on top, watch em,they freak the F*CK out cuz they cant crawl IN or OUT n they die inside,er fly away mad..its funny cuz they are uber pissed.LOL!its like a manic dog diggin in the dirt at top speed.LOL!

makes sense thanks bro im gonna go water, sand, and smoke a few while I look for trapped gnats, sounds like a perfect end to 4/20.thanks for the quik response

Sand is a pain, imho. The best way to deal with these fuckers is with a pair of tights pulled up over the entire plant pot. Dont have any gaps/holes anywhere. Best to try and get large ones as you dont want them to slip. You can just water as normal. Works everytime. Tried sand and it was abit messy. Nilnat is something else ive used to great effect, but the tights are your best route.

yeah sand is not thee best solution, but its cheap and 100% effective. Not heard of the Tights though.so I dunno.Doesnt seem to make sence to me..Can you explain how it works Please?Cuz Im tired n I cant brain,I has the Dumb atm.I was always under the thought that if you were to make a small mini environment such as the tights that when you released it there would be 500Gnats and the larve wouldnt die?Am I wrong about that?they couldnt get in I guess.but it give them oxygen and they can still come n go sorta within the Tights that woul provide a small space..?I always thought that Gnatrol or dunks or some such thing was the most effective method?hmmm, ill have tolook into the tights thing. but imho Gnatrol if you have an issue.but all in all its more of an annoyance since they are not even gonna bother ya the root till it gets really bad.but you can grow darn near 100% normal while you have a gnat issue.ive always scraped the top 1/2 of sand off and turned the rest in as I fluff the soil.I never made a mess.thats an intersting idea though reds.Ive never heard of that.Imma gopoke about n take a looksy bout whats I can find on that. Thanks fer the tip dude.:Sharing One:Happy easter and an ever BETTER 420 bro! be good.

Your breaking the reproduction cycle. Dont let the newly hatched adults claw their way out of your soil go off and mate with other flies and then lay another 200 eggs ago. If they cant go and mate, end of story. Trust me. It works. Ive tried sand and they just seemed to come out the bottom of my pots. This way there is no escape. I put my plants inti these tights as if you were putting your foot in. Then brought them up over the top of my pots. I made sure that after i cut them, there was plenty left over which i then pushed down onto the soil and kept there with some form of weight. You dont want any room inside the tights for them to operate.
Also make sure its snug around the stems otherwise theyll get out. 2 weeks later, no fungas gnats.
Or Steinrnema feltiae, which is a leatherjacket nematode that also likes to munch on the lavae of the gnats. But after the tights, you wont need anything else. Please trust me on this one. I battled them for months until i was told about the tights. If you do go for a liquid killer then Nilnat is the one. Gnatoff is horribily thick and not wat u want to put on your garden. Hope this helps, atb, reds.

Excellent explination and thank you kindly for that.ill keep that in mind. but imho only it seems like an awful lot of work instead of using Gnatrol or Dunks to hit the soil and prevent them altogether.but thanks for the in depth explination i will keep that in mind.seems more like a good way for prevention as opposed to Gnatrol if your really really into organics n such.wellman,Im frigin dog ass tired man.been gardening allfrigin day. Thanks again and hope the rest of yer eveningis awesome!:pass: :peace: oh how in the world would you fix the tight seal around the stalk n tie it off since it would have to be in parts or flat out cut up one side?oh well maybe ill think better or Different LOL!think different!!LOL! after a good sleep.aint slept in two days.L8r dude.:peace:

Try to get Mosquito dunks or other BT based pesticide. In combo with fly strips it is devastating. BT is a bacteria that kills the larval stage of gnats. So they may be around for a week or so but they cycle out as babies can't live. It's safe and easy and only affects gnats and other soft body grubs.
