Gnats or what?

 you're welcome bro'! Dunks/bacterial products are the best, IMO,.. I dosed my 16 plants that spend most of the time outside after a few gnats started to move in on them, about 12 days ago,.... now, aside from the occasional hitch-hiker on a plant, nothing! I may have to give one more round weeks from now, but I've had a treatment persist for nearly an entire grow,...

An update...seems I have needed to treat with the mosquito dunks every couple of weeks to keep the bugs at bay. But as soon as applied gnats are gone in a day or so. I had to top off with some soil as it had settled and I think reintroduced the larva.

One final note in case someone needs this info...don't just crumble the dunks on top...soak the crushed or crumbled dunks in water for 24 hour before applying. I made this mistake and gnats returned! I thought just putting crumbled dunks on top and watering over was good enough...It was not.

Just add a layer of white/building/birdcage sand on top. This should keep the gnats at bay! Since these types of sand aren't as accessible as potting soil or cocos. Also, gnats only come up when your roots are starting to rot (or when there's active fungi growing rapidly), so you might want to ease down on the watering.

I've never had gnats until I started over-watering my plants and reusing/recyclingwithoutcycling my old soils with the roots still in them. The gnats weren't a real problem though. Keep the soil dry for a couple (3) of days, maybe run your lights at half the strength so your babies won't die, and they're virtually gone in 3 days. My plants handled it like champs. Survived the drought (dry period, is drought the right word?) and the gnats as well.
