New Grower GPW...What?

I'd rather Have bob stuff over shantis.

Used to have a friend "Hobbes" that owned gpw contests.
He'd put 1 plant per foot, 12 over a 4x4. Almost 12 / 12 from seed/
Then hed a get light mover an tripple that # to 36.
Then double those to 72, and hand flip those 36 Into an drk room every day. 12hr cycles a.
Lil training to a level canopy aur pruing blolantrs an walla!
He won
lol.

2-4 gpw off a 600 hps an mover in one room every time.
(Strain dependent.)

RIP brother Hobbes from RIU.

2 growers. Each marooned alone on an Island.
Which one would grow best?
The guy who forgot his laptop.
Or the guy who has growing in his head/blood?

There's many an expert who can talk you through the perfect Golf swing. There's very few who can show you it.

This is not about tech versus experience. This is a thread about technical efficiency of lighting in the grow room.

I guess you just don't want to concede the point that one should use ALL the tools available to be successful and to minimize the "shit happens" factor. I think that is what I'm attempting to say here. A lackadaisical attitude breeds inefficiency and error. Or in other words, "Assumption is the mother of all fuck-ups." Until one HAS experience, and I mean with everything that can possibly occur, use the tools available to you. To not do so would be foolish. I know EXACTLY what I've done and when. Always.

And I can still outgrow the other guy on a desert island, with or without my laptop. I do better on outside grows anyway and I started in the '70s before all this hydro stuff was mainstream.

Improvise. Adapt. Overcome. (That's 20 years of military talkin'.)

Now that we've thoroughly hijacked the dudes thread let's let it go and get back to GPW vs. lighting.

Quite right - take your first point.
So, having sorted out the "technical efficiency of lighting" you are now ready to tell us what Balasts and Bulbs we should be using (so we can put it on a spreadsheet). I'm all ears.
I bow to your superior knowledge.
Your best guess will do for me.

:Sharing One:

Yeah guys, lets keep the vibe going in here, we can agree to disagree, but let's not let it descend into a slagging match. I was only trying to point out a flaw in the GPW measurement as i percieve it. and offering an alternative way to look at it. Now let's fire up a phatty :Sharing One:

I'm old, tired and now have a stack of Managerial Accounting books to wade through - be back in a few weeks.
Chill Chappies, I'm sure there's room for all opinions - but maybe it's all going over my head again.

Gotta study them ratios before I germ again! Bloody things could ruin everything - imagine 7 to 1 - just kills your plants and 11 to 2 well just forget about it.

Am I confused or is this math off? 4x4 = 16 so he'd have 16 plants in a 4x4 if he was doing one a square foot, not 12?
