While I have been here since late 2017, and with the help of the wonderful people here my first grow was not an abysmal failure, in my enthusiasm to get involved I neglected to post a proper intro, so here goes.

50 year old software engineer from the east coast of the US. Living alone (well, unless you count the cat) in an old farmhouse in the middle of nowhere. I work from home, which is not nearly as wonderful as it sounds. After the first few months you can get a little stir-crazy. Nothing a joint wont fix, though

I am fascinated with creating things. Cooking food, writing software, sourdough bread, fermenting mead and beer.... and now dank buds.

Despite having 10 acres of land, I am not remote enough to grow outdoors. Ironic, in a way. So I cut my teeth with an overpriced DWC solution that was originally meant for growing small tufts of herbs like basil and oregano. The one gallon res means things get pretty busy around here once the plants start to really take off. One of the interesting side effects of these smaller tanks is that even though the plants won't get as tall as they might otherwise, this works out for me as they only have 4 feed of headroom before they'll be cuddling with the bottom of the light.

Anyway, I am really enjoying the experience here so far, and wanted to make an official "hello!"

So.. Hello!

Hey Mike,

saw your footprints before here on AFN, so welcome bro! And you lucky man on 10 acres of land, if would have only 1 of it i would have a fulltime job growing a plantation:crying:
:pass:
I do plan on growing some veggies and herbs. Nothing 10 acres worth, mind you, but it's almost a crime to leave the land so unproductive. If I have time later in the summer I might haul some of the bounty off to a farmer's market. Those are pretty big 'round here. Not so much to make any money, more to rub elbows with some more area farmers and pick some experienced brains.

Hello from the west coast. Do you have anything growing currently?
I have one that is starting to veg nicely, and the link to that is in my signature.

I started another but it hasn't peeked up above ground yet. Supposed to be an auto-fem diesel. It was a freebie that was tossed in with my Speed Bud, so I have no idea who the breeder is. I also have some GG#4 on the way. If they get here before the Diesel peeks out above ground, I'll scrap it for the GG. Either way, once I see something pop up, I'll start another Journal. I think those are going to come in REEEEEAL handy when I inevitably screw something up and start to panic.

Howdy Mike saw you over at LS this morning...good luck and karma for the new grow
:growing:
Thanks, Bro!

The grow journals here are an amazing resource when things go south (note I did not say "if" ), and frankly a lot of fun to update. I think i've taken more pictures of plants over the past few months than I have taken of anything else in several years. Knowing other people will see them and might be able to offer advice (even for problems I don't know I have) is a tremendous motivation for keeping the journal current.

Kudos to a wonderful forum. I believe I have found my new home.

Hi Oh. Since baseball is just around the proverbial corner, I hope you knock it out of the park.
A fellow baseball fan. The wonders here never cease.

I was never really into baseball until I hit about 45. I think what attracted me to it was that there was a game on pretty much every day for several months. That and it is a sport that lends itself well to radio. I can have the game on in the background and not have to focus all of my attention on it. Living alone and working from home can be pretty brutal socially, so having the radio as "company" has some positive psychological benefits, I think.

That said, I will struggle to name any player or coach. Won't particularly care if they win or lose. Just grateful they give me something to enjoy while I work.
