Hello everyone, I am new to growing in general but thought that auto's would be a great place to start because of short height and quick times to harvest. My research quickly led me to AFN where i quickly started reading as much i could. I plan on growing just for myself and for my girlfriend and to further that goal i ordered some of the joint doctors Ryder varieties to try out because i have heard great things about his strains. I have 6 Lowryder #2's 6 Easy's 4 Chronic's and 4 ogre's as well as some freebie autos (Pink lady and Grapefruit punch) from seedsman. We haven't picked which we want to do first yet. Anyone have recommendations? I was thinking maybe 2 #2's and 2 others.

For lighting I got a Mars hydro 144X3 reflector and hope that it will be enough to grow at least 4 auto's in the closet i plan on using. Do people think this is realistic? Does anyone have experience with this light and auto's? If needed i think i can supplement with some cfl's without increasing the temps in the room too much. I have also considered ordering another led if i like the results I get from this one. I want the grow to be as simple as possible and so i plan on using the WG's Grow at Lowes[Easy Dirt Guide]. The only thing i did differently is using a different brand of potting soil and plan on supplementing it with some dolomite lime to help balance ph. I was wondering how much i should use per quart (or whatever unit of volume you like) to accomplish this end? Is it even a good idea at all to use dolomite if i don't know the starting ph of the soil? Whatever I do I want to be able to just add water and the minimal nutrients used in the guide. I have already prepared the soil and have it waiting till after the new year when we will start the plants.

I am happy to be here and can't wait to learn as much as i can and get started on my growing quest.

Best wishes,

Autobliterate

Welcome Auto, I'll be sitting in, that is the same light I am looking at. It will fit great in my cabinet. I'm glad to get to see it in action.

Absolutely enough light to grow 4.

I have the 96x3W Reflector Series in my tent (along with two 135W UFO's) so you are just basically
one UFO shy of that in wattage. You can supplement with CFLs...I have a 60W 6500K CFL in my tent
specifically to raise the temp a little bit since the LED's don't put off a ton of heat. :)

Good Luck!

Welcome to AFN Autob, looks like Trap answered your LED question. How about starting a grow journal in New Growers when you get things going. Great way to meet folks and make some new friends. Good Luck

Welcome to AFN, autobliterate! Short height? Not all too true. You can grow some pretty tall autos with the genetics they have out now! Your Ogre's have the potential to get big! just a heads up. Anything you need, we are here to help.

Thanks for the welcoming wishes everyone. And thank you Trap for the info about the light. I will definitely check out your grows. How far do you hang the light from your plants?

Oldster, I plan on making a grow journal once i get everything rolling. I'm excited to share the learning process with others. If other people hadn't done so before me i wouldn't have the slightest idea where to start.

Briman, I know the ogres have the potential to get 3ft+ so i was thinking I wouldn't start with them. I should clarify that my space is about 2'x8' but i only plan on using half of that and making an enclosed "tent" out of white and black poly film. As i have it set up now has the light is about 4 feet from the floor. By making some adjustments I can raise the light as high as 6 feet but it would also require modifying the way i have the poly film. If i do decide to pop and ogre I will make sure i give it the room it needs.

So excited to get started.

And a warm welcome from me. Really please to see you signed up and did a fine intro.
I will look forward to your journal when you are ready.

Good luck chum, eP.

Welcome! That's the nutrient schedule I've been using for my first grow! I'll be excited to see how yours goes.
