Didn't mean to quote that^^^. To be clear, I never used fabric pots for "finger poking"

I never fingered my Pot, either ..... Rather I lift to feel weight ..... When I water I put X amount into pot running around the outisde of the pot - THEN - 5-10 minutes later I follow up with a second watering making sure to water more towards the midddle of the pot ..... let water run thru pot into saucer and sit for 10-15 minutes, then drain saucer if needed .... I then lift pot to feel weight and I’m done ..... With fabric pots almost impossible to overwater BUT fabric pots do dry quicker so one needs to watch / lift pot to check for dryness ..... After X times you’ll get the hang of watering!

I've got a scale on the bench to weigh dry and watered pots, no guesswork but a little OCD!
