I have not started grow yet but I have been running my box set up to test temps, etc... Problem is that I am running around 83 degrees. I have the box in a closet that is about 6'x9' and it has an a/c vent. The room temperature is at 76 degrees. My box is 2'x3'x4'. I have three 120mm computer fans on top for exhaust with a 6 inch passive intake vent on the bottom covered by a dryer vent. I am running 2 sets of 4 cfl's ( 1 for each plant, 26 watts each). I have a box fan in box for circulation. Any ideas? I would like to drop it at least 4 or 5 degrees. photo.JPG

83 degrees is fine for CFLs. With any lower heat light source, CFLs, LEDs, T5s, anything in the 80 - 85 degree range is fine. HPS light, because of the high heat intensity, require slightly lower temps, 78 - 80 ideally.

I wouldn't call 83* much of a problem yet, but I have those same 23w CFL's (like from Walmart or something right?) and they do make a lot of heat when there's a few of them or more. You could ditch the CFL's and get an LED light but the big ones make heat too. For that size I think a 400 to 600 watt LED would be perfect. Better/faster air exchange can help a lot too. If it's in your closet, I can understand not wanting a big inline type fan, they are noisy. So maybe a couple more pc fans on the exhaust side and two or three on the intake side. Since there's an ac outlet in the closet, you can easily and cheaply rig up something to channel the ac air to the tent intake :) It would consist of like a rectangular-to-circular vent flange or cheaper cardboard mockup lol, some dryer vent ducting, and something to mate it to the tent... Or whatever you can rig up. It would be easy and removable for the Wintertime cuz obviously ya don't want to be pumping heated air in there. Good luck! Don't forget carbon filtering later in flowering hehee :)

Thanks guys. What I meant by A/C was I have an air conditioner vent in closet so the room temp is cool. I was just surprised how much hotter it was in box versus room. My next problem ( don't get me wrong it is a labor of love) is I don't know what I am going to do about odor. I am thinking about taking out all the computer fans and replacing with a 6 inch duct fan and some kind of DYI scrubber. I going to try and grow 2 auto blue mystics from nirvana.

update. I simply cut another 6 inch passive intake at the bottom of my box. I now have three computer fans on top for exhaust and two passive intakes. I ultimately was running a 87-90 degrees. It dropped my temp. 10-12 degrees. I wish my seeds would get here. :)
