Indoor Growing Scrog

Canopy is filling in well and you have plenty of top sites for a high yield.
Great job on the defoliation! How often are you stripping her down?
I'm picking a few leaves everyday and more thorough strip every 10 days or so.

It's about due now. I'll strip it some more this weekend.

Looking good brother
Thank you Deano! :d5:

Here is day 18 since sprout on my autos, I'm running the 8.5L pots this time, rather than 15L Autopots, just to save on some coco. No need for
larger pots, I guess. Just leaf tucking, no topping, no LST, nothing. I want them to grow as stress-free as possible until they get slapped heavily with the net.

I'm planning to do the same scrog method with 4 autos in this 150x150 tent, just without the rockwool setup you use, because I absolutely don't understand how that even works. Yes, I'm stupid. They're getting around 300-350PPFD at 24/0 currently, I try to keep DLI a bit lower, just so they get a bit more of a stretchy growth, without being too stretchy. This should avoid the dense node growth, which usually makes stems break heavily if I would try to scrog them. Just right in the middle, pretty much. EC floating at 2.1 with Cropsalt Veg A/B + TA Pro Roots + GG MSA at 100% strength, PH floating at around 5.7-5.8 in the res, causing a tray PH of around 5.9-6.0, which seems perfect to me.

They're at 350W of power with the GrandmasterLED Tarantula Ultimate 5x5, so around 35% strength. I plan to not really raise power any higher than this, maximum will be 50% power or 500W of powerdraw in flower, but only theoretically, depending on how these plants grow.

Temps are spicy at 29°C, humidity floating at 65-70%, which makes a perfect VPD including the leaf offset of around 2°C for veg.

@420autoflower or anyone else - When is his usual timing to flatten these plants out? My search function does, for whatever reason, still not work. It says I have no rights to use it, and I don't know why. Account is confirmed, I'm clueless, so I have to ask here.
Your plants look great @LilSnifflz
The amount of preflower time seems to differ from cultivar to cultivar but I typically SCROG 5-7 days after I see my first preflower pistils. If you wait to long you won’t get as much cola stacking and the middle of your canopy might not fill in from not enough preflower time under the net.
It’s good to do some preliminary training or apply the 420autoflower bent coat hanger method to promote more side branching. The side branching will help create a full canopy and increase yield.
Scrogging 4 autos in 1 tent will be difficult for your first 420 SCROG.

Welcome to AFN that’s weird you can’t search here’s some notes I took when I did his method.

The 420 method is a lot different than your typical scrog. If you thumb through the thread you can see that my autos are grown naturally with basic LST started around day 15 and then completely flattened out down to the base of the stock during preflower, which is not done in your average scrog. The net in a typical scrog is used to even out a canopy or cola support and with the 420 method the net is for training only. There is also no lollippoping under the net like you see people do in a regular scrog and a lot more defoliation/canopy maintenance is required with the 420method. There’s absolutely no waste with this method and even the smallest nodes turn into some of the largest colas on the plant.

Best time to scrog your autos is about 7 days after you see your first pistils. That’ll give you enough preflower time for your small/weaker nodes to grow and stack, but not too much preflower time where they’ll get too tall and pressure you into rescrogging. If you scrog too late and dont have enough preflower time the middle of your canopies will have a hard time filling in and might leave you with some bare spots.

If you’re going for the 420 method timing is very important so good to scrog out your autos 3-5 days after seeing your first preflower pistil or about 10 days after flip with photos. This allows the last remaining stretch to be done under the net and by keeping all your main branches pointing horizontal the energy will be diverted to the smaller nodes in the middle which helps create a nice canopy of colas.

5-7 days after your first pistils show with autos

I’m constantly defoliating starting from day 20 but I do my first leaf strip (schwazz) when I’m prepping them for the net. I’ll do 2 to 3 more during flower but it all depends on how much foliage each individual plant grows. The first Critical Orange Punch I just posted required 4 schwazzings to get her to where she is and the other Critical Orange Punch only needed 3 rounds, so the amount of pruning varies from plant to plant.

I bend the main top over with a bent coat hanger stake at day 16 and keep the top pinned down for a couple weeks which helps promote more mains and a lot more side branching and I’m also guaranteed the largest kolas from not topping.

I flatten the plants out about 5-7 days after I see my first preflower pistil and that usually gives me another couple weeks of preflower stretch to help my weaker lower nodes stack and grow into huge kolas. Even the nodes at the very bottom of the plant that usually gets picked off (lollipopped) grow into big kolas. If you scrog out to early the lower nodes grow too tall and you end up with more larf from no light penetration in the middle of the plant and if you scrog out to late the lower nodes don’t have enough preflower time to stretch and stack. Timing is very important with this method!
Thanks again Dab! 👊

Autopots rock!! Your plants look great! After a couple grows I switched to the tray2grow and love it, plants love it too highly recommended! Coincidentally mine are also 19 days old today. A little diff approach as I started the sprouts with 2.0 EC and 38 DLI but it’s not how you get there as long as you get there!

Your plants look fantastic for their age bro! Ahead of schedule for sure!
I’ve heard a lot of good things and seen some really nice plants grown with Autopots. I follow a guy on Instagram called Autopotomas and he grows some really big autos with them. The only problem I see him having with the system is that he’s not able to level out his canopy by elevating his shorter plants. Probably wouldn't work the best with growing SOG or a packed tent.

You don’t have to go as hard on the defoliation. I usually wait a couple weeks between schwazzings.

Hello growers. I'm fascinated by your all grows and want to learn more. I'm just on my second grow(first time coco). Yesterday I increased my lights to 20/4 and they look great at 650PPFD. Can I run 24/0 for photoperiod if I don't care about my electrical bill? I feed by hand 4 times a day. Sorry if I sabotage this thread. Keep sharing incredible knowledge here☺️🍀

I wanted to say can I run 24/0 for veg. I know they need 12/12 to flower. My bad for not stating it earlier in my post.

Oh ok then yeah you can they might show sex as they mature and are ready but won't actually flower until they get enough dark period
