Indoor Growing Scrog

Definitely try and spread her out some more and like previously said, anything 5 fingered is just foliage now.

Good growth, very good and beautiful plant ♥!

How did you fix the BioFilm problem? And you're not going to do the swchazz that 420 recommends?
Thanks so much! Really appreciate the kind words about my plant ♥

As for the BioFilm issue – I’ve been consistently adding Sensizym, but the water still turns cloudy and I keep seeing algae growth.

The only thing that’s really helping at the moment is keeping the reservoir below 21°C (70°F) and cleaning it daily along with refreshing the nutrient solution every day.

And yes – I’m planning to do the final Schwazz on Monday, as recommended.

Thanks again for the support and feedback! 🙏🌱

Day 60:
Midnight Snack (Snack Time x Midnight by G.O.A.T Genetics)

Avg Temps: 68-73 F
Rh: high end is 53% but steadily climbing down.

Had a chat with the breeder earlier this week, and finally got to know what I've got here, and all in all I'm super impressed. Definetely not Maestro's thick chunky buds, this girl is definetely starting to stack some weight on her, and those dark purple hues are really starting to shine.

Been keeping up with her daily defol, I'd rather keep her a bit more named and promote bud growth, and helps keep the humidity down and hopefully helps with any possible budrot issues in the next few weeks.

Found out with her lineage, she's a heavy indicate leaning hybrid, which to me explains why she's stayed relatively small but of course there's a million more factors than that. Really looking forward to finishing her out and starting up the next seeds and start applying what she's taught me.

Whats everyone's preferred way to cure? I'm down to get a second drying tent and keeping perameters in check, because why go through all this work to fuck it up in the end?

I've been mulling this 420. If it's possible for you to have a direct link to your new grow(s), with the thoroughness you have supplied so far on your recent Instagram posts, and that would continue through harvest ... would that be the tutorial? Then you could just share that link in the future? Maybe a separate thread here on autoflower.org, that only you could edit, and that referred questions/comments to this thread? I don't know, just a thought.
Hey buddy!
Sorry for the late response.
Been really busy lately with life in general and had to take a break from social media for awhile. Finally got things under control so I’m hoping to be around here more often.
I think your direct link idea would be the way to go! Just need to do better with my updates to make it work right.
Really appreciate your help and input @Mongoose!
Thanks. It looks worse than it actually is.That part of the plant really isn't growing more than the rest.My main issue is getting to the back side of the plants and under the canopy to clean up new growth.
Anybody have any suggestions? I'm a little afraid to undo the net from the poles to spin the plant.Maybe I'll try.
The best way to defoliate and maintain your canopy without breaking your back is to set your tent up about 12-18” away from any walls and completely unzip the tent when you need to work on your plant.

Well, undoing the net from the poles is not going to work on a 2 plant scrog. It should on my 2 single plant scog tho.
It can be done! 😉

He probably gets lost in there and goes missing I don't know how he does it either lots of work a dedication :toke:
Lol!!! 🤣
Thanks Dab!

Scrogs work best in tents with sides that can be zipped open and accessed, otherwise it’s just a pain in the ass with the screen so low. With photos you can veg them longer and and scrog later if you have the room which gives you alot more space to work with.
Yes… it’s nice to have tents with 3 doors or have tents with walls that completely unzip.

Understood, it's just that it's kinda' difficult to find things, and does require some note taking for newbies, perusing longer threads. I was imagining a single plant grow example, from start to finish ... with no questions/discussions in the thread itself, but rather a link to this thread for questions/answers. So ... basically a simple, uninterrupted online tutorial, that 420 could edit as he chose if editing was ever necessary.
I agree! It is difficult to find information and a lot of people don’t take the time to go through the thread.

Ain't it the truth!? I discovered that a cheap office chair on wheels is a requirement in this business. And for whatever it's worth, I just put another net over the first net, offset as best I could with long zip ties -- first net tight on one end, second net tight on the other. Using Vivosun netting. Not elegant, but it sorta' works.
I have an old office chair I use too. I also use an adjustable stool that works great for defoliation and canopy maintenance.
Your double net method is a good way to provide more areas to tuck if your squares are too far apart. I use green gardening wire to make my own areas to tuck when needed.

I follow a guy on 420 magazine forums who scrogs photos,He veges for 8 weeks ,flips, sets the net and the stretch fills the net.He also lets the stalk get really tall by removing branches.I'm gonna try his method with photos when it's cool enough to grow photos again. He apparently gets big harvests like 420 but the timing of it all, isn't as pressing.
You’ll be able to get better results with the 420 method if done correctly. Only 4 weeks of veg needed and higher yields from flattening out your canopy. No lollipoping or bottom branches removed which adds to your overall yeild.
The 420autoflwer method is proven to take less time and will yield much more than your typical scrog grow. No waste, higher yield and quicker harvests with the 420 method.

Ive had some really big yields with scrogs over the years, growing on farms and with buddies. Its always impressive, whats so impressive about @420autoflower is that he does this with autos for one, and way faster than vegging for 8weeks plus another 8-10 for flower. Hes pulling multiple pounds off of single plants in 10ish weeks sometimes. You can grow a monster plant and yield multiple pounds when you have the time. What Sensei does is bend time lol!
Thank you Brother! 🙏

Yep. And with some experience and patience, and at the mercy of genetics, possibly getting ~1 lb yields in a 24"x24" or 32"x32" tent, with a 125-150 watt light, a simple/inexpensive home-made recirculating system, rockwool cubes, and with only two nutrient bottles. And RO water. In 90-110 days. Home grower's dream. 🙂
That’s really all you need!
A bit of 3.5” nylon netting and you should be good to go!

I think it's most of everyone's issue even 420 has mentioned the amount of time he spends maintaining the plants. Would love to see something to make life easier would spend money on something if it was available. I've looked for individual scrog frames but not much available found these on amazon before but haven't tried them but the only thing I've found.

:pass:
IMHO, tying your net to the 4 tent poles and completely unzipping all 3 sides when maintaining your canopy is the easiest way grow a single scrogged plant. My rolling outdoor scrog carts would work great for larger tents or tents that are up against the wall if you want the option to take the plants out.
For whatever it's worth, I've been able to make the Vivosun netting work in an un-planned-for-larger-than-expected footprint, 4'x2', by double netting. ( Single net only shown in this image. ) I used 12" zip ties, to offset the second net. If it's necessary ( don't think it will be ), I would just add a third net. Why not? Someone suggested 1/2" PVC slipped over the tent poles. Has worked well! There is still some flex to the poles/PVC, but definitely good enough as is, and I've pulled the nets very tight.

( And regarding the extra work with defol etc ... I find it kinda' soothing. Before dawn, coffee in one hand scissors in the other, Satie or Brahms on the loudspeakers, and marveling how these plants know how to do what they do. )

Pruning is therapeutic for me at times. :rolleyes1: Defoliating while listening to a good podcast is always nice.

Hey @420autoflower ,I want to start my outdoor grow this year indoors using 4'' or 6'' blocks and then transplanting the blocks in soil after about 20 days.I'm I risking transplant shock doing this? Thanks
No risk at all! Just remove the wrapper to the height you want it buried.
Yep, I was lucky in that I could appropriate half my home office to have 3-sides access, although it was a space compromise in other ways. If I was doing this all over again, from the start, and assuming typical 420-method plant size, I would do a 32" x 32" tent, and only one plant at a time. Would make lots of things simpler/easier. I think I remember 420 mentioning that that was one of his favorite configurations.
Yes… 32x32x65” tents will accommodate just about any single auto scrog and you can unzip all 3 walls which is unlike most 24x24” and 28x28” tents where you can only access from the front.

Dropping in to say i started reading at page 40something a couple of days ago and just arrived at the end today. Gonna start at page 1 tomorrow and reread everything.
Hello there!
Thanks for stopping by.

First plant post-
SouthSide Genetics, Midnight Snax S1
Currently watering 1.5~2 shotglass of 6.0ph 1.2 ec, 400~450 ppm FN Grow

RH: 73% currently, looking to gradually lower to 68% over the next week or so. Temps around 80 on avg.

Light is a Mars Hydro TS1000 at roughly 50% power atm, got hit with some light burn early and have kept her from getting too harsh.

36x36x80(?) tent
Day 20:

Prepping her first 6" block now, she's popped through the bottom of her 4". Her sister unfortunately didn't make it past the heatstress/lightburn at around day 10, but this lady has made a beautiful turn-around.

Just got done finally setting my water system up and loaded, and current feed schedule is set for 3x daily for 3 minutes. Want to start low and work my way up as she needs it, but my timer only allows 3 time sets so will have to look into correcting that soon.

My guess, I'm getting close to her bending. Definetely a little daunting, I'm no stranger to LST and even mistakes are managble but still lol.

If you guys have any critiques or anything please let me know! View attachment 1740131View attachment 1740133
Nice!
How is she looking now?

Been copying this technique for the first time and it's has been a blessing. Bigger plant with less effort / rather straight forward.

My plant currently looks like following and is 48 days old. Do you think I should defoliate more and when would I do the second leaf stripping? After the stretch is over?

She has been very Mg hungry. I have to add like 1.7g of additional epsom salt to keep her somewhat happy.

Light is higher now too :)
Beautiful plant brother! :d5:

I don't know what you mean by "to at least 80 degree of the main stem" I already did the supercroppen part at around day 35.

Also she is throwing pistils :) (lamp was lower just for a moment)
:thumbsup: :thumbsup::thumbsup:

If there's no pistols, super crop the limbs half way along the longest branches to get those outside tops further out towards the tent sides. The limbs you super crop will almost be horizontal then to your main trunk allowing more light into the centre. She looks good though but you are restricted on space. It would be nice if you could move her to a bigger space but it is what it is. Now you've stripped her you might be ok, just make sure the light is getting down to those lower nodes near the base of the trunk. ;)
Thank you Deano!
:bighug:

Guys I'm too dumb to search correctly - What nutrient line does @420autoflower use through his grows? Is it right that he only uses Floranova Grow and Bloom (and calmag) through the full cycle? I'm a bit lost here & need some help, too dumb to find a search option
General Hydroponics Flora Nova Grow, GH Floralicious, GH Rapid Start, GH ArmourSI, Clonex Solution and Mycos for the first 40-50 days. After stretch I switch over to Drip Hydro A&B and also supplement with GH KoolBloom, Cutting Edge Sugaree and continue with GH ArmourSI and Floralicious. I’ve noticed deficiencies when using a A&B nutrient line during veg but never have problems with FloraNova Grow since it’s a strait veg NPK.

Yeah I've been talking to someone who found out that FloraNova Grow has the picture perfect ratio of NPK from day 0 to harvest with cannabis, which seems a bit too good to be true, but the numbers confirm it. That's why I'm trying to find out more
Yes! You can run the FloraNova Grow from seed to harvest.
It's such a good product, easy to use and cheap. I think it's easy to get bamboozled by all the McGuffin that comes with nutrients and the claims that are sometimes made. General Hydroponics have been around for years and I always had issues until I started using their Flora Grow and Bloom line up.
A proven product!

I use autopots and I was wondering how it works in res lines.
It will work just fine. 😉

Just flipped to flower, this is two days after heavy schwazze! Think i got a good spread, should fill out nicely! Heres a before and after!View attachment 1740817View attachment 1740818View attachment 1740819

The Big Bend update:

Day 25:

Left for a day, and she sprung up over night! She's taking well to her new 6" Grodan, noticed a little curling so dialed the light back just a hair and decided today was the big day.

Before:
View attachment 1740882

View attachment 1740883

After, obviously

View attachment 1740885

She's obviously not too happy with me right now, but she'll be fine. A (hopefully) good bend, and a baby's fist worth of a selective defol and we are off to the races!

I'm expecting her to start shooting pistols in the next week or so hopefully but time will tell since I'm not at all experienced with this strain.

Once again, any thoughts/comments/concerns are always welcome!
Happy and healthy!
It’s best to bend the top over around day 15 so the plant has time to produce more side branching before flower.

I just found out about these wonderful grows from someone on reddit who also uses the technique with amazing results. I've been thinking about doing a scrog for a while now. I actually bought a net months ago and I don't even know where I put it 🤣. I'm a little apprehensive because I don't know how it's going to go in my setup. I grow RDWC and my plants get monstrous in size compared to the pictures I've seen in here. I'm scared there won't be enough net. Do you guys remove whole branches from the plant at any point during the process? am I ok in doing that if I follow this method?

View attachment 1740970

This was my last grow that I just finished harvesting. Two mephisto wedding x grape walker kush in a 5x5. As you can see I'm not one who has ever defoliated in my life and my tent gets absolutely out of control. I had colas hitting the lights and growing past the lights just MADNESS and stress. I'm sitting here wondering how I would even get to the back of the plant to cut leaves off. I really want to try this method though so even if I have to send the wife in there on hands and knees with shears we're going balls deep with this method next grow for better or worse lol.

Any tips you all could give me for my situation would be seriously appreciated.
You grow monster autos brother!
I think a scrog net is what you need if you’re having a hard time taming your plants. You can start by scrogging out a a single plant in your 5x5’ if you are worried about lateral space. You’ll definitely have your hands full with just one plant if you want to run a 420 scrog and have never defoliated before. There’s no lollipoping with the 420 method and the weakest nodes that are usually plucked off turn into some of the largest colas on the plant. A lot of work getting a monster 420 scrog over the finish line but possible with a little bit of knowledge and a lot of elbow grease.

haha I actually weighed the rest today and total dry weight was 767 grams in 5x5, I'm actually not sure how many watts my light is. It's the old spider farmer 4000 from 2020. I've had an AC infinity ionframe evo8 5x5 (730w) light since july sitting brand new in the box. I swear i'm installing it before it hits the 1 year mark 🤣 400-500g from 2x4 seems really good! are you already using the 420 method? and if so are you also using under canopy lighting?
767 grams out of a 5x5’ with 2 autos is respectable, and you also hit the 1 gram per watt mark.
We’re here to help when you’re ready to grow a 420 scrog.

Absolutely love your work and I'm thankful for the experience you share with the community
Thank you!
Hey everyone,

It’s been a while since I’ve been active here – my last grow log kind of dried out due to the grow tent heater what made the humidity very dry, my humidifier couldnt keep up and 2 times a day 50ml was net enough at the start. I decided to not follow advices on fertigation interval and hooked them up on automated fertigation at day 1, snapped the main cola 80% at day 12 when trying to bend the main cola down, had also a big struggle with bio film in my reservoir even tho i always refresh it every 48 hours, decided to cut out the bio heaven and the biobizz calmag and instead added sensizym to help the roots recover, added piranha and tarantula and the calmag from AN. This not seems to help so thinking to add an airstone. Reservoir temp is 22 celsius

I restarted with the same genetics as before on April 15th, and the seed popped above ground on April 20th. She’s looking healthy so far.

I’ve already started some LST (low stress training) and light defol to guide her shape and spread out the growth a bit. She’s responding well to it.

I’ll be posting regular updates again with pics and details. Feels good to be back on the forum – looking forward to your thoughts and tips!

Cheers,
Zuener

Looks great for only being 19 days old.

One question, especially to @420autoflower - You mentioned using Clonex solution. I've never heard of this before. I imagine you're using this on your autos / auto seedlings. At what ratio are you using this? For how long? What's the reasoning for it? Does it not cause hormonal issues with seedlings? It's something that I never thought about, or seen anyone do / talk about.
I add a capful to a 5 gallon bucket after my silica and NPK. I use it the first 40-50 days for root health.

Day ~70. Her center sites didn't grow tall enough to get as much light as the rest of the plant, and, she is finishing fast, some amber trichomes. So I let her out of the net to be able to get the lights down into her center and finish those buds, and also keep light on the rest of her. ( I know, she might take first for craziest looking plant ever. 😇 ).

Frosty colas Deano!
Sawneys White Gen 3’s always turn out sticky AF!
OK newbie here. How is this for an idea to get around the access issue at the back for defol?
SCROG single plant in a square tent.
Lazy Susan table (big say 50cm or even larger for huge plants). Pot on top.
Two hoops, maybe floral hoops or even hula hoops. They must be slightly small than lazy susan.
They are mounted to the table around the plant, one above the other.
They are held up (like a cylinder) with pvc pipe or similar.
They form the SCROG frame.
You can weave twine in a square pattern (like a tennis raquet) across the top hoop.
For schwazzing/defol, just rotate the SCROG, along with the plant with the lazy susan.
I have not put much thought into how to build this yet. I am not the tradie type who knows the best way to do this sort of thing.

Next best way but much easier, is just to use a stand under the pot of course, to give a little room to work under.
I like the idea of a PVC jointed rectangular frame for this. Twine can be made very tight and much easier to remove from plants at harvest.
I have not tried this yet but want to use the schwazzing method in my next grow, having been inspired by Sensai.
My last grow was full of larf and I got rot too.

EDIT: A rectangular prism with square base would also work and much easier to cut to size with PVC tube. Hardware shops also sell joiners for these.
EDIT 2: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005225614259.html yoga hoop fits in my 4x4 tent
Buy a turntable and add a plywood base of appropriate size. LOL motorise and spin it around for equal light.
Buy PVC tube. Cut into lengths. Drill holes top and bottom.
Secure to hoops with zip ties.
Great idea but I think building a simple rolling scrog cart that you can wheel in and out of your tent would be easier. I can make them in a little over an hour with about $25 in materials.

Day 28 of the grow today 🌸 Just finished the schwaz and tucked everything nicely into the scrog net.

Lots of fan leaves removed to open things up for better airflow, more light to the lowers. Snapped a important branch again for the second time this grow 90% and fixed it with a plaster. Can’t wait to see how they bulk up over the next week or two 💪

Running EC 1.4 , no signs of stress. Looking like they’re right on track 🔥

This is my second grow ever, Let me know what you think!View attachment 1742833
Looking good!

Hey everyone, quick little plant update!
Currently day: 41
Expected finish day 80~90
SSG Midnight Snax *edit correct name*
No idea on her terps, but she's giving some heavy Diesel smells along with a touch of peppercorn.

Lil miss here started going into flower about a week and a half ago, changed over to Flora Nova Bloom last water change (Sunday, 5/18).noticed a little burning before the water change on the very tips of her, but that's mostly been evened out since the change in nutes.

Saturday, absent a net yet I used some plant ribbon to do a quick and dirty LST to open her up a bit while I waited on the netting.

View attachment 1743703

Move to today, finally with the net in hand I did a big schwazz (I'd say around 70~80%) and moved the net down for her final home! I also noticed roots peeking out of her 6" Grodan block, so might try and wrestle a 3" wedge over the next few days!

So been away guys, girls and killers.

These were 300g smallest and 500g biggest.

Now aiming for a bigger one

Dutch passion auto critical orange punch
This one is going like 7-8 week.
Got good amount of tops going. More than 60. Itse like 1m x 1m on size. Trimming it these upcoming days

Been feeding her advanced hydroponics Bloom and Micro 3/1 and atami bloomblastic for like once per 2 weeks.
Now for 1 month 1.8ec

Thinking that my grow period was great and long like 7 weeks with stressing but the buds should be getting bigger now ?

Any nutrition Big Bud tips for this dutch passion breed ?

Rh 45%
Temp in leaves 24C
Ppfd something like 800-1000

......

Then got some Jack Herrer xxl auto and Blue Dream autos going nothing this big, in the front that are ready for harvesting.
Second crop looks great!
You’re getting better at this bro.
I started a separate thread for my grow, but I got my inspiration here. Lots of great grows! This is my second.

Flattened her yesterday. Second picture is one day later (today).
Another nice canopy!
Good job brother!
I really enjoy and appreciate seeing all the different canopies that are being created and shown here.
Keep up all the hard work guys and thanks for posting.

Day 86. Harvest in about a week, she's still adding buds and drinking about a half gallon a day.
Yep, I've done my first trimming 'on the vine', about 30 mins every day for the past week.
Have no idea what she might weigh in at, dry. ?

You’ve got some dense nugs their Buddy.
Stuff looks fire!!!

Can't be sure why a plant that was advertised as being typically "short and stocky" got so stemmy, and with so much distance between nodes. But I have a clue: I've read about "DIF", and this lady spent about a week in veg with at least 10 degree temperature swings between day and night -- lights were off at night, and unexpectedly cold overnight. I wonder if 420 has wider day/night temperature swings with his outdoor plants vs indoors, and if he has noticed a general tendency for his outdoor plants to have longer legs. Although she hogged tent space, her buds
did develop nicely along all the sides, almost zero larf, and she has been super easy to trim in place.
I have big temp swings from day and night with my outdoor plants but I haven't noticed any difference in legginess.

Day 76 for now these Sawney Knightmares, still ph6, ec1.3. There's still so much leaf material to pluck and it's a daily challenge to keep up with her.

View attachment 1745579
Some fat colas bro!
:drool1:
I should continue removing fan leaves (leafs?) throughout early flower?

Do you yall in this thread let them grow out a bit, or do you pluck them right as they sprout?

Pics from today (Day 50?). Any feedback appreciated.View attachment 1745854View attachment 1745853
I usually give a couple weeks in between my schwazzings but I do defoliate the top sites daily.
Im trying to mimic your methods. The challenge im having is in getting so MANY nodes. Im using your single bent hanger method but not getting such broad growth. Any tips? Growing mephisto Gus Scout AUTO.
Thanks.
Any pics?

Harvest. FastBuds Lemon AK. Three 4" Grodan cubes, Grodan covers removed, then wrapped in Panda film,
and one half a 4" Grodan cube sacrificed to small bits, for the bottom of the bin.

Another successful scrog.
They’ll just keep getting better and better my friend.

Day 18. Dutch Passion Daquiri Lime. Will be ready for bend-over any day now.
Working hard to keep humidity in check. I'm in a tropical area, AC running all the time,
and indoor humidity low -- perfect for flowering, too dry for early growth.
Hope I don't mess this up! 😇

The best way to defoliate and maintain your canopy without breaking your back is to set your tent up about 12-18” away from any walls and completely unzip the tent when you need to work on your plant.

It can be done! 😉

How is she looking now?

Beautiful plant brother! :d5:

:thumbsup: :thumbsup::thumbsup:

Thank you Deano!
:bighug:

General Hydroponics Flora Nova Grow, GH Floralicious, GH Rapid Start, GH ArmourSI, Clonex Solution and Mycos for the first 40-50 days. After stretch I switch over to Drip Hydro A&B and also supplement with GH KoolBloom, Cutting Edge Sugaree and continue with GH ArmourSI and Floralicious. I’ve noticed deficiencies when using a A&B nutrient line during veg but never have problems with FloraNova Grow since it’s a strait veg NPK.

Yes! You can run the FloraNova Grow from seed to harvest.

A proven product!

It will work just fine. 😉

Nice looking canopy you got there King!!!
:drool1:

Happy and healthy!
It’s best to bend the top over around day 15 so the plant has time to produce more side branching before flower.

767 grams out of a 5x5’ with 2 autos is respectable, and you also hit the 1 gram per watt mark.
We’re here to help when you’re ready to grow a 420 scrog.

Thank you!

Looks great for only being 19 days old.

I add a capful to a 5 gallon bucket after my silica and NPK. I use it the first 40-50 days for root health.

Love the shape bro! :eyebrows:

Frosty colas Deano!
Sawneys White Gen 3’s always turn out sticky AF!

Great idea but I think building a simple rolling scrog cart that you can wheel in and out of your tent would be easier. I can make them in a little over an hour with about $25 in materials.

Good job brother!
I really enjoy and appreciate seeing all the different canopies that are being created and shown here.
Keep up all the hard work guys and thanks for posting.

You’ve got some dense nugs their Buddy.
Stuff looks fire!!!

I have big temp swings from day and night with my outdoor plants but I haven't noticed any difference in legginess.

Some fat colas bro!
:drool1:

I usually give a couple weeks in between my schwazzings but I do defoliate the top sites daily.

Any pics?

Congratulations Brother!
Another successful scrog.
They’ll just keep getting better and better my friend.
:d5:

Can’t wait to see this one take off!!!
Any Floralicious in your reservoir bro?
Welcome back 420, hope the time away did you some good!

Here she is tonight, day 61. Definetely starting to put some bulk on! She's taught me a lot, and I've got a lot of fixes and corrections coming for the next grow
