Indoor Growing Scrog

Thanks for all the info 420, much appreciated. I'm going to have to figure out what I'm doing wrong
when I get short stems and nodes as close as 1/2". Has happened too often, and with different plants
from different companies.

My macro environment is hot/humid, unrelenting, 6 months of the year.
So the central AC runs all that time. If I do 24/7 lighting, the tent is ~84 degrees all that time.
I've changed to 18/6 lighting, and can get the tent to 77 degrees at night with lights off, still with required PPFD & DLI.

The reason I dug around about 'DIF', was the experience with previous grow, a free seed from FastBuds,
that noted it was a 'short & stocky plant, great for small tenters'. ( I look for sativa dominants with longer stems,
to hopefully put the full 420 on them. ) But the 'short & stocky plant' had 6" or more between nodes,
and was very easy to super crop, see photo below. But that was during winter here, and the tent temps
overnight had a 10 degree swing. All other parameters exactly the same. The search for the answer will continue. 😊
By the way, she yielded 10.3 oz, dried and cured. Thanks to the 420 method!

I'm growing photoperiod. Do I need to defoliate it before supercropping? Is it before 12/12 or earlier?
I would defoliate, supercrop, scrog, then cut your light back to 12/12.
Photoperiods will need more time under the net with only 12 hours of light.

Nice job @Mongoose. Her canopy filled your tent and 10.3 ounces from 1 plant grown in stacked 4x4”’s is fantastic. IMHO, you are not doing anything wrong and a lot of what you’re dealing with has to do with genetics. As you already know timing of your scrog, the amount of medium you’re growing in, defoliation and many other things will also affect your plants structure and overall yield. Scrogging a tall plant is always ideal but all you really need is a couple 12-13” plants with good side branching to fill a 4x2’ tent wall to wall if you pull them down to the base of the stalk. I’m far from figuring everything out myself and been dealing with a problem as well, at first I thought it was my fertigation schedule, then my EC and just recently narrowed it down to equipment. I’m pretty sure I have it figured out and will share my discoveries in about 30 days after my test results are finalized. No bro-science here! Lol!!! :nono:
Your plants always look great brother so just keep doing what you’re doing and enjoy the journey.
Your new lady has some big potential! 👊

This is a 4 auto scrog I started awhile back in a 4x4’ with Atlas Seeds Tricross and Gummi Bears. They all showed pistils at the same time but both Tricross’s had longer preflower periods and the canopy looked terrible with such a difference in flowering time. I made the decision to split them up last week and now they’ll be able to grow to their maximum potential with more room, light and the rescrog. A lot of extra work but I’m happy I did it. I’m burning an extra 100 watts with them separated but it’ll definitely be worth the extra juice I’m using. The canopies are also much easier to maintain without them grouped together.
They are 59 days old.
