Indoor Growing Scrog

No problemo buddy! Too late to do a comparison with my current run but I’ll be sure to do it in my next one.
IMHO… I really don’t think temperature variance is what’s causing your issue. The autos I’m growing outdoors have comparable branching to my indoor and they have a much bigger temp swing. I know you’ve been scratching your head about this for awhile but to be honest I’ve never noticed anything abnormal about your stems. Is it your overall height you’re not happy with? How tall was your last 2 plants before you stripped and scrogged? I remember the plant you grew before this last one just about filled your whole tent after you flattened her out.

Thanks 420! Yeah, I've not published the runts with short woody stems. Has happened with five different strains. The one that had loooong node spacing had significant day/night temp changes, and ironically, was advertised by FastBuds as one of their 'shorter/stockier' plants. My macro climate is a challenge: 6 months of the year it's 90 degrees every day, AC running. With lights on 24/7, I have zero 'DIF'. Even with an 18/6 schedule, I have almost no DIF. But the other 6 months of the year my macro day/night temps swing significantly, so I can get a 5-10 degree DIF overnight if I turn the lights off for 6 hours. That was the case with the long legged lady's environment. All other parameters the same with all the plants. It's my best guess at the moment. But without reasonable spread between nodes ... everything gets messed up.

Here are some examples from Michigan State University on the effects of DIF on stem length. Applies to cannabis too, I have read ...

For you as an advanced gower it’s probably easier. For me as a novice it looks like a DWC😃 But I'm going to try for the next grow with one plant this time and see how I'm capable of it. Maybe you have any tips?

I'm only a first year player, barely past a rookie. 😄 Re-circulate is easy. In posts much earlier in 420's thread, he has screenshots with the gear he uses. Vivosun pumps, some tubing, and that's about it. Like 420, I use Rubbermaid brand tubs for reservoirs -- fairly cheap, and light proof. Oh, and the Vivosun fine-grained timer for auto-fertigation too. 420 and DOA do their approx 10 minutes fertigation every 3 or 4 hours around the clock, IIRC. I have done that, and also tried 10 minutes every 2 hours. No difference that I can tell.

10min does it mean just to recycle water in that time frame? Does pump power matter? Like 350L/h or 1000L/h? I reared SCROG thread and I think I just need to do it after I finish my grow. Does reservoir water temperatures matter? I heat my floors so I can’t put a reservoir in another room.

Yes, the water is pumped up from the reservoir for 10 minutes, and drains back. Rockwool drains quickly. This pump works fine for me, I think it's one that 420 and others use also. My reservoir temps are higher than I would like, around 80 F, but there's nothing I can reasonably do about it. And it doesn't seem to be a problem. I aerate the reservoir with air stones, but only because I already owned an air pump and it was easy to do. Not required, according to 420.

Thanks for the information. Now I clearly understand how to irrigate😃 And your way to go rockwool or coco?

I aim for 12mins fertigation every 5 hours. If the dehumidifier is working over time and drying my blocks out, I'll up that to 15mins.

Have only done rockwool. But 420 sometimes does a mix of rockwool and coco, and IIRC, he has written that results are ~the same.

Semi-related ... I have simplified germination. No more paper towels. A three hour soak in 1% hydrogen peroxide, then right into a starter rockwool cube. Has worked every time, and no more worry/fussing with the tap root. I throw water/nutes to the seedlings however many times a day. Rockwool drains right through. I don't see a need to worry that.
