Hey Folks, was searching for info about harvesting and read about chop after a period with the lights off. Some people are firm believers and some say its a myth. Does a dark period (24-72h) increase Potency/Flavour/Bag Appeal? Thoughts about this method in auto flowering stains? :peace:

No. It has not proven to increase potency, you will get better tri coverage but not much more. Some time I can't even notice the difference from plant that had dark periods and ones who didn't. If you have a good grow and good looking plant their is no need for a dark period before chop. I say its best for plants that geneticly don't produce a lot of resin.

On the other hand spend 3 months growing a plant to its sticky end... whats a other 24-48 hours in the dark for a chance at a higher quality product?

the way i see it is this , the plants produce it as protection , the higher the elivation the more intense the light is and proven higher trich production , so why would you turn thos lights off ?

an example i could honestly and personally experienced give is this ,,,,

when i take a harvested plant with some lowers left on for re veg and i put the plant back into 18+ lighting those lowers just cake on the trichs , meaning they produced far more in 18+ lighting then they had been producing in 12/12

so no imho it is not any use in giving those extended dark periods , imo the extended dark period would be BAD THING

and yes ive done 2 days dark and even 2 weeks dark with everything between , i have yet to see any benefit

peace

edit, when i say the revegged plants produce more trichs in 18+ , thats only temporary , for maybe a week , once the reveg takes hold trich production become minimal like any vegging plant , but with that said , id say we would be better off giving the plants 48 hrs of lights on rather then lights off

and yes i know light and heat kill it , but that obviously does not happen over night , on a living plant it remains living

Thanks guys, alot of thoughts in here, i guess, i will take 2 different samples and figure it out. :Sharing One:
