So I picked up my Autopots (Springpot 4 system) about two months ago. They've been sitting in the box since then, but this week I managed to get my tent cleaned out and was going to set them up. Something seems off though.

My reservoir has one hole in it. It's in the top (detachable) lid. However, all the photos and videos I've seen depict that there should be a hole in the base of this thing through which I would feed the included grommet. Just wondering if this was a QA slip-up on their end or if I'm being overly dense. Drilling a hole isn't beyond me, but it's strange that they wouldn't mention it. Maybe they intended that I run the line down through the hole in the top, but that just seems kind of sloppy since it could easily pop out.

If anyone has encountered this, would you please let me know what you did? I've reached out to their support team but have not yet heard back.

Cheers!

I found their instructions online and I gotta say those are the poorest pictures and instructions possible. These are the relevant steps:

Based on what I am reading and maybe seeing there should be a 3/8" hole on the bottom side of the reservoir? Look for a plastic flashing that did not get removed in manufacturing covering the hole. If you have to ream it out be careful not to waller it out oversize. Push the grommet in then the pipe and fit the filter on the inside to the pipe.

Thanks for weighing in!

Right!? I have been squinting at those pictures off and on for a few hours now. They included a copy with the actual product that was just a black and white version. Thankfully this color version was on the website.

Unfortunately no signs of a perforation or anything fabricated in the bottom intended to be a punch out. I was hoping it would be that simple. Grommet is in the pack. Just no hole. There is an unevenly drilled hole in the lid, but that’s it.

I’m going to give them a day or two and hope they get back to me. If worse comes to worst I guess I can drill a 3/8” hole down there myself, but I bought these thinking they were ready to go out of the box. I’ll follow up when I hear back from them.

Heard back from them pretty quick. Sounds like I got ahold of a defective unit - New one's on the way. :D

I also just set one up. Mine didn't have the hole either but I drilled it myself as I couldn't be bothered waiting .if it's the smaller pipes use a 10mm drill bit.

Good call. They gave me the same option -- and sounds like you got the same size as me. I went looking through my drill bits and realized I didn't have one on hand of the appropriate size, or I would have attempted the DIY fix.
