Heat stress, Mag Def, or just reaching for the sun?

Yeah I understand that, and have read tons of hate towards Miracle Gro, but it's worked for me in the past. So I don't want to change something that may work for me, yet not work for others :P . And yeah I get you about the whole time release stuff, I'm sure me removing all of the balls in the soil doesn't fully eliminate the issue. I can't find my ph meter right now, may have left it out in the yard and it's dark over here in these woods lol. I'll try to find it in the AM and tell you guys what it shows. But things usually stay between 6.2-6.6.

RE: MG

There is always the possibility that their formulas change too, so what you have on hand may be nothing like what your family recipe was based on...just sayin'

Unless your uncle is currently using the same stuff, not old stuff that's been around a while....at which point....if it ain't broke....;)

Yeah he's currently using the same MGMC I'm using, from the same store lol. He used to use some other soil 30 years ago but for whatever reason he likes what we use now. I get you on the formula part, I mean MG even uses different stuff depending on what part of the country you're in. This whole starting indoors to outdoors thing is different for me, i've always done everything using the beautiful sun. I'm still kicking myself that I let the poor girl get toasted when I knew better lol.

I just cringe when I see someone using MG products, so many issues. They work okay for growing photo sensitive plants outdoors since the veg period is so long. But given the short, 6 week veg period for autos, they are very problematic. Those water retention polymers are also an issue. They tend to hold too much water and don't allow the plants to go through their normal wet/dry cycles. Let's see where your pH is at.

Just checking in, Brother. How's she looking?
I got ya a little something:
Coppertone-Water-Babies-Pure-And-Simple-Sunscreen-Lotion-SPF-50-04117711.jpg

Gentle enough to use on the most sensitive plants!
Sorry friend, I had to say it. Karma for your baby, Amigo. :peace: :karma Cloud:
EDIT: Crap, I thought the pic was smaller....

Muddy I don't doubt anything your saying, as I have seen more MG threads about plants being burnt up and every issue possible in the book, plus i'm sure you have years of experience on me. I just went with what has worked and was readily available. I'll look into taking a trip into the city to see what type of soil I can find, maybe i'll get lucky and find some Promix some where. The pH was a little low but unfortunately she most likely won't pull through, shes looking rough. I'm most likely going to end up pulling her in a few days if she doesn't look much better and give this Blueberry a shot, it broke through the soil yesterday afternoon and is currently under some weaker CFLs. But i'm not giving up on her yet.

Lmao Redneck, it's all good over here bro. You should of posted a bigger picture, or a tub of Vegetable oil cause I seriously deep fried her haha. I really do appreciate all the kind words and wisdom that you guys were able to give me, made me realize how much better things are around here than on other boards.

Maybe i'll get around to posting some journals around here, i'm sure this won't be the last thread I make regarding an issue. :P

That, friend, would be the first thing on my list. Get a journal up, and you have a perfect place to bounce ideas off folks before you take a leap.

I have the same issue as I live out in the country. For me a bale of Pro Mix is a 70 mile round trip. I'm currently testing some Bonnie Professional Potting Mix that I picked up at the local Ace Hardware. It's basically the same as Pro Mix without the myco, which I added myself. I also added about 15% more perlite to the mix and so far the results are looking good. It has a slightly lower starting pH than Pro Mix, 6.7 compared to 7, and I've finding that feeding at pH 6.4 is keeping it right at 6.5. Something you might find locally.

Before you give up on that plant try giving it a good flush. Run 3 times the pot size of pH 6.5 water through it. That won't help with moisture polymers but it may flush out enough of the slow release nutrients to get it over the hump.
