hello!
I'm a longtime lurker (since last year!) who has decided to keep a grow journal to help document my grow.

I live on Vancouver Island, off the west coast of British Columbia.

I start my seeds inside on a windowsill while I wait for better weather, and then they go in the ground or on pots around my property. I usually grow a couple photoperiods - last year was my year growing auto flowers (Trainwreck and Early Miss.)

I'm super excited about this year's grow season.

Hey welcome to AFN sockelf! We have an outdoor growing section with some pretty talented and amazing growers, both photo and auto! We have a small photo section as well if you ever get that itch, but definitely take a look around the site and hopefully we'll have what you need information-wise and if not, we'll help find it and get you set! Thanks for taking that plunge with the grow journal and I'm sure you'll find it's addictive when you start getting some likes and feedback on it!

Greetings @sockelf From one northern OD grower to another. So glad you decided to join us.:welcome:

Like Son of Hobbes stated, there are some very talented and experienced photo and auto growers that are more than eager to share their knowledge and encouragement.

Let's give you some reputation points for coming out of the shadows.:slap:

Peace.

aww, thanks StickMan! I'll have to check and see if you have a journal to follow! I admit to mostly being interested in outdoor grows at the moment.

@sockelf Your very welcome!

I haven't started a journal new journal yet this year. I wasn't sure I was going to do a grow outdoors due to health issues. Have plants going now under T5s. I will tag you when I have one up and running.

We are doing a fun outdoor competition this year for best looking cola shot and dried bud shot. People from all over the world and all growing experiance are joining in. Here is the link for you to check out if you would like. Lots of plant pictures already, mostly autos.https://www.autoflower.org/threads/outdoor-auto-and-photo-grow-battle-under-the-sun-2017.58104/

Do you know what strain or strains you will be growing?

Peace

Oh cool! I'm definitely still considering myself a 'newbie' at growing auto flowers but perhaps I'll give it a crack. One of my Trainwreck last year was a fabulous producer!
2017's plan:
2 Euforia (Dutch Passion)
2 Early Miss (Crop King Seeds)
2 Black Cream (Sweet Seeds)
2 Amnesia (World of Seeds... I think?)
and maybe another variety or two... I'm still seed shopping, ha! I love a good variety to choose from :)

plus 1 Vanilla Kush photoperiod, possibly some Blueberry photoperiod (and possibly Romulan or Purple Candy if I can trade some blueberry clones away!)

Thank-you. I was actually just reading your great grow journal.
Here are some very proven strains for climates like yours from some breeders I know, and can vouch for them and their genetics. They are in Denmark, but I get seeds faster from their than I do from Canada. Ordered from them many times.

Eirdbei Fantastic strain developed by the Swiss government. If you like Indica dom plants, this will fill the bill. I like it so much that I use it in my breeding program.
Mighty Freeze x Eirdbei Some very fast phenos. Mighty Freeze is Mighty Mite x Freezeland.

Fast Bionic Girl One of my all time favorite OD strains
Freezeland

Hope that helps, and if you go there check out DCC and Bald Monkey seeds. Any questions on strains, don't hesitate to ask me.

Peace

I LOVE Vancouver Island; it is so beautiful!

I am doing an outdoor grow this year, but in an entirely different environment than yours. However, the info on your large pot size was a great bit of info - thanks!
May mother nature cooperate with your grow this year!
