Hey guys, friend of mine has a couple plants rolling. I diagnosed as cal/mag and overwater. But just to make sure I didn't miss anything, what do you guys think?

he's only running 4x13wcfl's right now. he's planning on getting an HPS as soon as he can. As far as I can tell, they're photo, based on the time he says they've been alive. But red looks like an auto with those leaves. They're bag seed.

There are two here, the blue one is in far better shape than the red. Red has some deformed leaves too.

what do you guys think?

Anyone on this at all? The guy is freaking, he won't relax and keeps saying he's just going to pull them and be done with it because its already dead etc. I keep telling him its recoverable, but I want an opinion from here. ANYONE?

He's using some soil bought at lowes. I know its not the right kind, since its mostly peat. I gave him some cal/mag to foliar spray and told him to not water so often. Though I think there's nutrient lock or something going on since he had been using some miracle grow meant for lawns. There was clear burn signs, and his PH is way off. The runoff is around 8.4, which is too high. I suggested a couple caps of white vinegar to the water he uses to bring down the PH.

My complete solution would be to just go get the right soil mix and re-pot the damned things so he stops having these issues. Any suggestions?

you already mentioned the things i was going to say

one more thing is the single leaves , thats a tell tale sign of stress and often due to lighting , ie flowering then switching back to veg/reveg

but with the stress you mentioned it could be anything or everything that caused the single leaf growth

peace
