Ok, Package arrived today. I have root riot cubes and rockwool. 6inch net pot. 44 gph air pump. 5gal bucket with level indicator and drainage line. Gave me "grow stones" , it said to put stones and let soak for 24hrs then rinse. Said it would give me perfect ph. So do I not PH water to soak with? Oh yeah got tubing and o2 cylinder stone

Hey bud ..id make the final soak with PH 5.5 water ...but give them a good soak & a couple rinses before that if poss .

Root riots are awesome & prob all you need with the stones ,so no need for the rockwool .

you could start them with less bubbles 1st off but want as many as you can get once theres a good few roots in the res :smokebuds:

The air pump may be a little low on power bro ( around 3 L/ min )...Could use one 5-10 times the output.. Air is king...

well spotted bro:smokebuds:yup 3 L /min Is nowhere near enough air ...you need 5-10 times that just like Duggy says . A 15 - 30 liter per min is good for a 5gal bucket but 30 would be best .... I use a hailea V-30 for each bucket & it puts out almost 400gph :GoooAuto: :smokebuds:

So should I upgrade the pump before starting? Was just trying it out cheap as possible but I want to give it decent chance at beating my soil grow. Will put pics up later

The biggest plant i have taken across the finish line i was using the worst of the worst air pump ever. She didn't seem to mind, i am convinced it is possible to be putting too much air.. All about the size of the bubbles from what i can gather.. Smaller the better...

upgrade asap mate ....but say you drop a bean to soak today ?. You have 12-24hrs soak ...then a few days germ .. then you can spray the net pot & the pebbles around the seedling until the root pops out the net pot for a few days & then make up your 1st res ... or run the bucket with water & the pump you have until you can upgrade .

Its all about the bubbles dude ...100% res oxygenation is what your after for super healthy roots = super healthy girls .Ive heard 20lpm pumps do just as well but for £35 on ebay you can grab the super silent hailea v-30 & know your good to go (if your in the US then check other pumps with a similar output ):smokebuds:

I'm in US, but will start looking on eBay now. Lol I run a 1000 watt HID and CFLS in a 4x4 tent. I like to over do things just a bit. Will let u know what air pump I order ASAP
