Got 5 on the go , 600 watt in cool tube
only one is having problems with leaves- started about 3 weeks ago during veg but is now getting worse with HPS light which were started 3 days ago

- the browning starts spotty around outer tips/edges and seem to work inwards
the light was left around 14 inches from tops , temp 27.8 c, watered 2 days ago
one of my other plants has some leaves that are drooping
is the light to close?
a dramatic change in the one plants leaves since this am

your insights please

Hi deman, leaf problems are a bitch to diagnose, hope 1 of chaps here will sort it out for you, if you go to the plant doctor on the growweedeasy.com they've got some pictures so you can self diagnose, but be careful my friend there fairly similar looking. Hope this helps and may the force be with you:cool:

We'll need some more information before we can help you.

What soil are you using?
What nutrients are you feeding, how often and at what strength?
What is the pH of your feeds and the pH of your run off, the water that comes out the bottom of the pot when you feed?

It doesn't look heat related. More likely a nutrient deficiency likely caused from your soil pH being too low.

All hail the Doctor! I swear you and I think exactly the same about PH I think, in that is is by far one of the most common problems expereinced by growers would you agree? Muddy is there a PH is the most important thing thread? If not you should make one I think it would help greatly.
I make sure to PH adjust for exactly what I am feeding them to make sure the plants can absorb it, and it has always worked for me when treating deficencies.

I was fooled for months into thinking my soil grows all had PH problems. But it was my well water! Something changed in its content because I'd grown with it over the winter and it was fine. But my point is, sometimes it can be hard to diagnose a problem as there can be many factors. Leaves are a good source of info in that various issues can create different leaf symptoms, Yet, as you say, many issues can look just like PH problems. Maybe if we all look closer at our plants, we can help make a more definitive guide to plant problems. There must be some subtle variations in signs depending on causes.

JM and I did a collaborative thread on pH back in Oct. of 2012. It's here: https://www.autoflower.org/f73/ph-potential-hydrogen-manual-polled-12594.html.

No doubt understanding pH can be one of the hardest things for new growers to grasp. Unfortunately it's about the most common problem we see. Probably 8 of 10 issues reported in the Infirmary are pH related. I know I probably sound like a broken record sometimes but IMO it's the first thing that needs to be checked. I've seen too many people just rely on pictures to diagnose their problems, miss the underlying cause and end up making their plants worse. Diagnosing plant problems is the hardest thing we do here. It's only been the past two years or so that I feel confident enough to tackle them myself.
