Grow Mediums Help to understand a basic rdwc

Woo. This stuff is getting me giddy. Im taking it slow. Heres where im at. Im going to go with two dwc, and two in soil. I hate to say this but their under a 150w hps right now. Im desperately trying to find a cost effective mh system. I may break down and get a 600 but what over kill for a 3x3 I think. Id also love a led, im looking into one but will keep it simple and run mh and hps.

Well I shouldn't say under, their still germinating but that's whats waiting. Nothing fancy... If anyone could recommend a good company for led that would be great.

Here it is. :D I;ve read so much about cleanliness everythings getting cleaned before going in with rubbing alcohol.

That photo plant is being baby sat.

I'm on my second grow using a Current Culture RDWC system. http://cch2o.com/. The diagram in post #2 basically explains it. The pump is external, not inside the epicenter. Water is drawn from the manifold in the back, through the pump and chiller, into the epicenter, then recirculated through the system. There is an air manifold in the epicenter as well as air stones in each bucket. I'm also running a top off res, which feeds into the epicenter to maintain the proper system level. They can be a little finicky to get dialed in but once they are, they by far out produce any other systems currently available.

Running one bucket does not make a RDWC. In order to get the real feel for it at least 2 buckets, if not 3 or 4 would be needed. And yes, every plant should be the same strain since they will all be sharing the same nutrients. Multiple strains in these systems can be very hard to control.

Sounds a little more complicated. Im happy with two buckets, two strains. Just picked up the new air pump, what a difference! That's aeration!

So I think im good to go, I got 400w mh on it now. So when they go in they should be nice and comfortable. Im concerned slightly about temps but well see.

Thanks eeeveryboody

Your 400w will do just fine for 3x3, but watch the heat! I'm running a pair of 400w in my 4x4x7 and can't close it up during the light period or it'd be screaming hot. You'll need around a 200 cfm fan and some duct (with or without the cooltube) to even come close to managing the heat with a 400w HID if your not using a cooltube fixture (RECOMMENDED!!!). My CT XL fixture kept it in the low 80's, but the single open reflector had temps pushing the high 90's.
